    Party Finder VS Duty Finder

Hello, just a quick question here,

With the Party Finder new features, what is the use of the old DF, get your party from the PF. Easy, convenient, better, less wait time, get a group with your expectation and goals, etc... etc.... I cannot see the DF usefull anmore

    What do u think?

Hopefully people have seen my posts on this in the past... I'm certainly too lazy to go looking for one of my rants, so I'll work off memory...

Honestly, the Party Finder is the function they should spend their time developing. Duty Finder was a nice idea, but outside Duty Roulette it's just terrible... It should be phased out, finding groups on your server should always be the focus. Duty Finder seemed great for new/casual players, but in reality it just leaves them isolated with no real connection to anyone on their server, since until Relic weapons they don't need to talk to anyone. Using the Party Finder to get a group for Stone Vigil is vastly superior for such players as they can actually meet people on their server who can help out in the future, or invite you to a community. Any bonuses from the Duty Roulette really need to be moved to the Party Finder asap.

Ideally it should also have the option of being expanded to a multiple server function; OK, you're not getting a group together with the Party Finder particularly quickly, open it up to multiple servers then. None of the mess Duty Finder currently has with different people wanting different things from a run, but pretty much the same functionality. Still not great that you're not playing with people on your own server, but you win some... :/

Not sure why you think it's more specific AND faster.
    Those are usually mutually exclusive.

Party finder helps you find people with specific things in mind. It is basically more convenient alternative to, say, shouting in Mor Dhona. Now you can do other things in that system.
It is a more social, community function. You don't just enter the dungeon and it doesn't automatically group strangers together. You can see a group going, you can talk to them or join the party if they're filling in a spot. The latter is close to the duty finder system but only in that case.

However, again, it is not cross server which is the biggest difference. Duty finder groups people together quickly (relatively) with an automated system, Party finder is more for specific type of runs and for playing with people you can actually friend afterwards (community building.
    Both have their place.

Not to mention that the Duty Finder Roulette will still promote use of the duty finder for people who play solo (and prefer it) and for very general farming purposes(gil and tomes).

I say faster because As a DPS, i sometime wait 45 min before a dongeon run. With the PF, i'm gonna try to find a group saying "Need to run Stone Vigil, who's with me? Need 1 Heal, 1 Tank, 1 DPS" and ppl before checking DF will check PF and start the run faster...

I'm definitely going to use DF less and more party search tool. But DF will still be something you could use while using the new tool and we get the daily bonuses for using DF and the roulette system.

For me it's gonna be a once a day thing for the bonuses, other than day, PF all the way

I think Party finder will be same server? and Duty finder is cross server.
    are the main differences.

there's also a side note with this: with party finder people can set arbitrary requirements while df let you play under his rules. I mean, for titan df will let you enter only with 2 tanks and 2 healers, but everyone can enter if they met the average ilvl. Party finder can let you enter with any setup, but they can put shit like "full allagan and allagan weapon or gtfo", or any other stupid requirement. It's not something to overlook.

in no way ending to this discussion:

I have to confess that the 5 year old in me laughs a bit when I say the word "duty" aloud. More so, when I'm actively finding duty.
That being said, would rather find a party than duty.

I will primarily be using party finder because it is server only. You can add people you like as friends. Also, if someone causes trouble, their reputation is at stake because the player could be black listed by everyone in the party. Also, party finder can be used to find more specific groups. For example, I will probably use Newcomers welcome when I first try a new dungeon so people are more patient. I'll have to see how good the dungeon roulette reward is, but dungeon roulette could be a reason to use duty finder. I will probably also use duty finder when I just want to queue for a dungeon and don't care about the type of group.
