Playing Final Fantasy VIII (Now released on Steam)

Did they update the graphics much? I just saw it on there the other day. I was thinking I'd pick it up when Steam has one of their inevitable sales ♥

I know VII was more polished when they re-released it, but still quite dated due to the style.

Kind of. They fixed the off-set graphics on the backgrounds and they slightly polished the character's textures. Sadly, some textures were messed up, like Cid. He looks like a Monkey Island character! I can't say the same about the music... It kind of sucks. It's the same music than the original PC version: MIDI. There're a lot of people complaining about this on the SE forums since they want the original PSX music (Something I agree with). Thankfully, there're patches for that and some FX improvements. They also included the Chocobo World with the game's launcher! it's cheaper than a FFXIV monthly sub, but I would recommend to buy it if you really want the old FF's titles back and with full compability with the current hardware.
