Except that sacrificing Vitality IS sacrificing defensive stats.
It doesn't matter if you have just enough health to not get one shot.
The more health you have, the less likely you are to die in the event of spike damage.
It also means your healer has more time to react, to fll your HP bar up.

    Parry does not do that.
It only works once in awhile, and its only on physical.
Parry does NOT help you during a progression of ADS when he turns around and decides to clock half your health off.

They said it's something you can do weekly, so I assume it's a quest of some sort.

    That's probably the quest reward.

It's in the patch notes and mentioned in the live letter that it's a quest for the new weapons. The EM will drop accessories.

VIT is a better defensive stat than Parry is the thing. Parry is % chance, VIT is a constant. You'll always have that extra X amount of health, you won't always parry X amount of times every fight.

    Sort of, they're different things.

VIT gives you the ability to take a big hit better, or to take more damage before you need a heal. But once it's gone it's gone until you are healed back to full.

Parry reduces the average amount of damage you take, which means you require less healing. Arguably better over the course of a long fight where you're taking a lot of physical damage, and after you've reached a comfortable amount of hp.

When you're talking a little VIT vs. a pretty big chunk of Parry, I don't think it's a clear cut answer.

Overall this has been the battle of ages in all tank forums. VIT vs. *Insert chance based mitigation here*. The one thing I'll say is while the axe in number has "a pretty big chunk of Parry", the overall % increase is relatively low I believe. I won't throw out numbers and pretend like I know all, but that is what I'd be interested in, and something SE likes to make difficult for us to figure out definitively. :l

I don't think people will go wrong or noticeably perform better going one way or the other between axes. Allagan will just remain epeen factor for i95 and Twintania drop.

While it is not clear for parry, with how everything in this game seems to be tier based, unless you actually gain enough parry to increase your parry %, adding parry gives no effect to you at all. And given the ratios in this game of main stats > secondary stats it is also not clear to me that we are talking a big chunk of parry. I have itemized for all parry and also not worried about it and never saw a noticeable difference in the play or logs (math never lies, but translation to noticeable differences in game for one fight is a different story).

Both look pretty good to me from a DPS standpoint, faster AA speeds and all. I definitely want.
