All the options are in the system settings which is off the main action menus, the list all the way to the right. There are two sections concerning graphics. One is basically your hardware options (resolution and such) while another is further down and has the effects settings for the game (texture filtering, shadows, etc.). If you are using a controller, pay attention to the context help along the bottom of the panel that tells you what each button does (square, x, triangle, circle help you navigate, save, etc.)--you will have to click on the icon on the left to get into the options in the panel to the right. Also, remember to apply the settings before closing the panel. Select your resolutions from the drop menu, then toggle the options for full screen or windowed modes.

If your chosen resolution is less then your monitor's native resolution, it will stretch it to full screen or leave it windowed, depending on what option you set for sindowed/full screen. If you select something larger than your monitor's native resolution it can have odd results. Best case scenario, it will just window it for you and the edges will be left off-screen.

you need to read my post.. downscaling = making your resolution 40% bigger then supported natively

I did read your post. You are having trouble finding the resolution settings, and didn't appear to understand how the settings work. Perhaps you should review my post again... even though I didn't have access to the game at the time, I was trying to give you an general idea of where the settings are in the first paragraph, and trying to clarify how it may behave depending on what resolution you use in the second. The last sentence goes directly to trying to force FSAA with your resolution:

I understand the concept behind what you are trying to do. We forced FSAA in FFXI for nearly a decade by setting background to 2x or higher than the foreground resolution. This game however is a different animal, and may behave differently depending on varying elements involved. It is not unusual to experience undesirable results when setting non-standard/unsupported resolutions.

In your case it seems the combination of XIV's rendering engine/methods combined with your drivers/hardware is doing just that--when you try to force FSAA by using a higher resolution, either FFXIV or your system (or both) are not giving the desired result. You may be better off setting a supported resolution and using the available FSAA/MSAA settings instead.

downsampling can give you odd effects but also improves graphic quality.. what I said above in the first post is that ffxiv currently doesnt have support for downscaled resolutions and i was looking to see if there was a bypass through a launch command or a config.
i know where the resolution and graphics settings are my whole pc is oced on fans
    1111mhz 660ti 4.4GHZ i5 3750k 20gb XMP 1.3 dominator ocz vertex 2 ssd

im simply asking for a workaround it works fine on wow,cs,diablo, nfs, cod, and everything else i attempted to use it on

It seems that there have not been any further posts about this concern being an ongoing issue. Because of this, we are considering it to be resolved. If this does continue to be a concern, please create another thread to further discuss resolutions or contact the Support Center at support.na.square-enix.com for assistance.
