It might be worth pointing out that buying land is also intended as a massive gil sink to remove huge amounts of gil from the system at one time. Sure there's no way in hell my FC could afford a decent plot of land now, but in a month or two, when the vast majority of the wealth has been removed from the system, SE will have no choice but to lower the prices. Plus, this is FC housing anyway. Only the select few in an FC will be given access to adjust layouts at whatnot in the house. Personal housing, when it's released, has to be cheaper, right?

I remember in FFXI i had to wake up in the middle of the night to water my plants in game to grow my elemental ores in order to afford my Vermillion Cloak and it became a status symbol; there are certain things in an MMO that should be very hard to attain at the beginning until the inevitable nerf. Nevertheless, I agree the prices can come down a bit but I don't have a problem starting high and then let the market dictate decide how much lower prices should come down before people start buying in to gain maximum effect on money sinking as long as the price movements are done quickly. People should realize by now that MMO is a microcosm of the real world, not a distraction or escape from it.

Is it less solid than "this is true because I say so"?

    Because that's what you're doing.

They need to slash a zero off that before it becomes remotely marketable. Right now the it seems the ratio of a 90day later scenario is "we've reach the half way mark".
this is 90 days 360 times max reduction.

Right now the lands are probably the combine gil of an entire city. That means the land is affordable on day 1 if everyone on the server chipped in.

What they should have done is actually reduce the price by 14% (not .14%) every 6hrs, and then slap a "sell out" option. Then introduce more instances based on the initial sales prices and slow the reduction rate accordingly.

    Serious?
I had 800,000 at the beginning of last week. I donated 300,000 to my fc and spent other gil on materia and SB equipment and now I am down to little over nothing. I thought my 300k donations was going to help. Boy was I wrong.

I happen to think there are quite a few hidden multi millionaires in game right now and they obviously don't want to draw attention to themselves. If they slash a 0 then the prices are "at market' for sure. For now they just need to implement the price decay as you've described. For % based decay even 5% would compound very quickly. Everyone seems to be focusing at the highest price plots but they should be looking at the entry point instead. The tier 1 plots should remain extremely expensive since they can't always create more land (it will piss even more people off).

Just from personal experience, you get about 250-300k doing all the missions while leveling, cause I had about this much going forward. I think In total, I've had as much as 500k.

However, I also know we have crafters in our FC that have donated 1 million+ toward housing for our FC, so it's hard to imagine it's going to be as bad as people are talking. Though I'm on Gilgamesh server, and ours isn't as heavily hit as others.

Oh my stomach. I cant stop laughing. Have you even considered what the prices look like right now? I know on my server the AH went bonkers after housing prices were announced. Materia that was going for 1k steady was suddenly priced at 150g, people are scrambling for gil right now, the AH is taking massive hits as everyone tries to undercut everyone else for that first big plot on the server. Primal kills, even the FC's that still sell them dont have enough for plots of land...

And since gil is so easy to make, maybe you would like to provide a screen shot of your millions of gil, just so us slobs know you arent talking out of your ass.
