Probably not the place for it, but...
Random question: Are primals found elsewhere, or just on Eorzia (which I understand to be the continent, not the world, which is Hydalen)? The Empire seems to have only encountered them on Eorzia, despite conquering other continents. Also, Meteor seemed to not be world destroying, but continent destroying.
With primal manifestation being tied to aether (I think), is it simply that Eorzia is chock full of it for some reason, natural or otherwise? I noticed the opening theme (Answers) refers to the Lands light, and the Lands purpose, and I wonder why World wasn't used.
I never played 1.0, so I'm wondering if I missed out on information about the wider world that clarifies this.

They are, yes. Eorzea is less a specific piece of land and more of a cultural realm. It encompasses the continent of Aldenard and its surrounding islands, the largest of which is Vylbrand, home to Limsa Lominsa. Aldenard is but one of three enormous, connected landmasses called the Three Great Continents, and the Garlean Empire hails from the middle of these three: Ilsabard. The Garleans are without magickal ability and conquered their continent without running into primals. However, before they came west to Aldenard, they went east to the third continent of Othard. It was there that they first encountered other primals - we just don't know much about it other than that.
This is also true. I'm not sure how much aether Othard has, but Ilsabard seems to have little whereas Eorzea, specifically Mor Dhona, is considered the center of the world's aether network. Supposedly, it is where all the great rivers of aether in the world converge. At the Battle of Silvertear Skies in 1562 (which you can see in the 1.0 opening), the Garlean Empire tried to take control of Mor Dhona so primals could not be summoned here when they invaded, but something went horribly wrong. A great dragon lord called Midgardsormr led the Dravanian Horde against the Empire and crashed their airship into the lake, which detonated the unstable ceruleum fuel tanks and shattered some sort of seal beneath the lake. With this seal broken, the flow of aether was altered and this is somehow related to the return of the primals, spurned on by the Ascians who seem to have come to our realm around the same period of history.
Here's hoping we get some new hints in 2.2, eh?

i love this thread! thank you so much for this! sadly the german community does not really give attention to the lore!

Another new post up: A primer on all the existing lore for new things in 2.2 in case you want to spend the downtime getting caught up before plowing ahead. Fusionx and I also found just enough time to sit down and have fun cranking out the less-formal podcast version. I'm still much more comfortable recording than I am ever listening to my own thoughts out loud again, however (>.>) (<.<) (>.>)
Thank you! </deepbow> I'm very happy that the English community is into the story. With the amount of time dedication that an MMO demands, I can't imagine playing one where I couldn't immerse myself in the world and lore.

Awesome, thanks for the answer.
Has there been any more hints that The Twelve might simply be Allagans? Other then the (paraphrased) bit that "A man becomes a Legend, and a Legend becomes a God". Given how advanced they were compared to even modern Eorzians...

Yhan, the White Viper.

I do agree. The podcasts are great! I like the speculation they lead to!
How did I not know about this?! Thank you very much for some great content.
