Here's a novel idea everyone:
Level conjuror and arcanist. You can share all healing items between the two classes except for body, head, legs, feet, gloves and weapon.
Now you can be happily play both classes depending on your mood/content you're facing.
This whole white mage vs scholar thing is hilarious with the game designed the way it is. JUST PLAY BOTH AND STOP BEING SO ANTAGONISTIC. THIS ISNT A COMPETITION.

First post here. New to the game, new to the community but I was rolling a 50 SCH before changing here to GLA. These changes are for to balance and have people not stack so it's funny that WHM ppl will want to now switch to SCH lol. It is fine, but SE is making changes to prevent something (stacking) and are actually causing it LOL
¡Eso no sirve!
Apparently it's a crime to some people here if you want to play another class in this game. Here's a novel idea everyone:

I actually did take up healing for shorter queue times. I started as a Pugilist but after becoming a healer I quickly fell in love. I'm now primarily a White Mage and I enjoy it so much more than I did DPSing. I'm not worried about the WHM nerfing at all. I was always told SCH is better than WHM but I manage Mana just fine. All it takes is for people to learn their job and figure what works for them when healing. We can certainly get around the stat changes.
I have both because my fc runs a lot of things and some times we're missing a sch and other times we're missing a whm. I can play them both and their gear is fairly interchangeable (not optimal, but you can get away with far less than optimal in this game), so why not?
I'm whm and always have been since ffxi. Medica2 was a minor nerf if even. In fact it's just spread out over time which I'm fine with. As for holy, it just means speed runs will take 2 or 3 mins longer no big deal. Whm will always have a place in a party because of the new stacking rule. Mp is rarely an issue for me, but when it is, it's usually not a whm fault but more on the dps as we either can't kill fast enough or a bad tank who don't use cooldowns right.
The reason the change to medica II is a nerf is because say it used to heal (random numbers) 1000 HP in 15 seconds. Now it heals 1000 HP in 30 seconds. No loss. Except... in 30 seconds, you would have used 2 x medica II, healing a total of 2000 HP in the same time. That is why everyone is screaming it has been nerfed. From there you have to look at overhealing with the higher HoT in 15 seconds vs. overhealing with the smaller HoT in 30 seconds; then threat management and blahblahblah.
The fact remains that you can only heal # HP now in 30 seconds as opposed to #x2
Of course it's not a crime. X_X But understand that nothing stopped these ppl from lvling SCH weeks ago? If they thought the class was interesting and fun, why *weren't* they lvling it already. ;o
Fundamentally, nothing has changed with SCH (and WHM for that matter) compared to prior to the patch, so hiding behind the excuse that ppl want to try another class seems a bit funky and misrepresentative. ;x I say fundamentally because the reaction here is almost like someone's taken a spell away from WHM or drastically changed how something works, and I don't really feel that's the case.
(I realise SCH won't get access to Thunder anymore and do get access to Blizzard II, so that *is* a significant change - but as far as I am aware no one's quoting this as their reason for trying it out ;x And anyone worth their weight as a healer will have THM to 26 for Swiftcast, so they will have some experience with Blizzard 2 already)
I never had any real problems with mana management either; I am a little concerned with management due to the changes but oh well. I love WHM so much that I will adapt accordingly. I have been telling people to take a chill pill over the nerfs recently on here. We need to give it a chance by playing with it before we jump to conplaining. If people don't like the changes after the fact then I'm all for speaking up about it and will back them up. If people want to go SCH by all means do what you want (I'm not paying your playtime bills after all); we just need to take it easy until we can see what the real numbers equal out to before hating the changes.
