FFXIV: The 1 Job at 50 and 8 man FC game.


With coil lockouts, a single character with multiple jobs is a crutch. Multiple characters (One or two level 50's) is ideal so that you can run it a few times each week. I thought FFXIV was founded on the premise that it's a good thing you can level and play all roles with a single character...

With coil lockouts, a FC made of more than multiples of 8 people means someone is getting "benched". (Having 9 friends means someone is getting the shaft. Having a FC of 30 is even worse)

Therefore; everyone does coil on Monday's and takes the rest of the week off.

With Mythology caps so low, and the coming "1 item per week CT lockout" it seems we can only gear 1 job in FFXIV each patch. Further solidifying that they intend you to have 1 class at 50 per character. (Maybe you could gear 2 jobs if you get lucky in coil, but otherwise, you wasted your time leveling anything more than 2 roles)

Crystal Tower parties of 8. More evidence that SE intended FC's to be made of 8 or 16 people from the beginning. (even if you firmly believe they wanted us to be able to 24 man que for it, why the hell wasn't this system designed from the beginning? You seriously never had UI for more than 1 party ready for content that was supposed to be at LAUNCH?)

I feel like this game is punishing people for having more than 7 friends and more than two level 50's.

I leveled everything in a game that touts character diversity, now I'd like the opportunity to use them.
And I want to play with all my friends. Not just 7 of them.

Lockouts are killing us SE.
I don't even want to log in aside from Monday's anymore. And it's been this way for several weeks.

It's pretty frustrating that I have all relics but due to i90 I can't play any job but my main to fill in for turn 4/5... And my FC of 112 members is lol for coil.

On the other hand because of all the latency issues, lack of content, and lockouts many more members are on break each week. What used to be 50 active went down to 25, down to around 12 active people at any given time currently.

I'm hoping 2.1 is enough to bring a lot of players back

Honestly? Another one of these threads? Patch 2.1 comes out next week. Hold your bellyaching until the first massive content patch drops which addresses some of the issues you mentioned here. As far as FC's being multiples of 8? That's complete crap. We have over 100 people in our FC. Only 24 of us raid the coil. In no way, shape, or form are we required to kick all those people out who don't want to or aren't to the coil yet. That is an arbitrary limitation you are giving to yourself, and as such a completely moot point for many of us. Want to help your friends through the coil yet can't? I don't really care. Many MMOs do stuff like this. FFXIV isn't exactly breaking the mold on this, but yet everyone likes to complain about it.

I'm going to have to side with the OP on this one, I have a full time job which means I am unable to spend as much time in game as others. Even though I have a full time job, I have a decked out PLD (only missing 4 pieces of ilvl90), lvl 50DRG in full DL and Relic, lvl50 WHM which is getting close to full DL and Relic. I mainly leveled each of these classes to be able to help everyone no matter what they need, and to be there for my friends and help them out! I have been completely unable to gear my DRG and WHM because I simply enjoy playing my PLD more than my other classes and I want to gear him first, and with the way that the game is set up now, I am simply just going to gear my PLD first before anything else.

For people who do spend time gaming (whatever time that may be) they should not be limited to the content that they can play. We have paid for your product, we want to play your product, we should not be limited, it's that simple. I know people who play this game a whole lot more than I do, and I have been able to keep up with them (gear-wise) due to loot lockouts. While I'm glad that I can do this, it's completely unfair to them and I have no issues with them having better gear than me due to the fact that they play more than I do. It's a completely fair reason and people that have the time to do so should be allowed to do so.

Since they're using lock-outs to "extend" content, they could at least make the lock-outs job related. It's not like we would be able to gear up all the jobs before the next patch hits anyway due to the lock-outs.

At least in FFXI you could farm and work yes for a low chance at drop, but I always Could in sky, sea, Abyssea you could gear all your jobs if you took the time and it would take a awhile to do so

The lockouts of this game are disappointing

I'm convinced the lockouts are more about making the casuals not feel inadequate than anything else

If everyone else jumped off a bridge should ffxiv do it too? ...god I always wanted to say that
