Just like your brain has decided that you're always on the side that's best for the game, and the "White Knights" are holding it back. It's not true, you just have different opinions on what's best for the game and both sides are too busy vilifying each other to notice that.
Except that Economics tells us that by raising the price on a sought after commodity will inflate currency and drive prices up on everything else. This is what Square was trying to avoid. They want to take currency out of the market as to deflate pricing. If the commodity is higher than other items, the other items prices will inflate due to more currency needing to be in circulation to afford said commodity.

Square has created a scarcity situation where property will hold it's value for an extended period of time (think Apple products). Though this will look good in the short term, the long term however has a high chance to damage the economy. Demand and Scarcity is high while Supply and currency is low. High demand and low supply will lead players to RMT. RMT will inflate and control the market. Currency inflates to the point the denomination collapses.

Worst case scenario, but not unprecedented.
