I said it earlier in another thread and I'll say it again here:
High Gil prices for housing are only bringing money into the RMTs Sacks.
Sure, SE says they will not let RMT-use be done without repercussions, but considering the amount of RMTs out there that still haven't been banned, chances are the RMT buyers will enjoy their housing and at some point move on to another game before they get repercussions from SE.
We are talking about FC Housing here, so why can't we use FC Currency to pay for it? That way RMTs would be out of the picture and they could set prices so that large FCs can afford large spaces, while small FCs can afford small spaces.
I agree with that 100%
The price of land is too damn high.
I don't know about everyone else but I think these prices are totally fucking bullshit high. I think I myself am one of maybe 3 people on my server that could actually get the Large First Class Plot but these prices are absurd.
But at the same time... I can see why it would be that high for a Free Company House. It's meant for a lot of people not just one. (Pretty sure Player Housing for a single player will be 200%+ cheaper. Since we got a hint at that pricing area back in phase 4 beta unless that's been changed and am unaware of it.
Except housing prices are regulated by the game itself, not by players. If you want another comparison, building a relic in FFXI was estimated to taking a little over a year if you ran a dynamis shell. A mythic took just as long if not longer because of how you got Alexandrite. Again, I thought you wanted something along those lines. >.>
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
the pricing actually encourage people buying gils from RMT.... lol
I understand the prices being high but these are absurd. There were a ton of people excited about housing who are probably going to stop playing as much.
Personally, housing was a cool idea for me and a place to meet up with the FC..but I really don't care. I assume many FCs wont even participate in this part of the game due to the pricing. Its a shame, though, that something they put this much time and effort into is basically going to be a waste for a long time.
To summarize how most of the community feels...WTF Square-Enix?
I have mixed feelings about the pricing of FC housing but I feel they went about it the wrong way. I'm not certain how large the largest FC is or where the vast majority of these so called millions of stockpiled gil is being stored but what were they thinking when they decided to make the amount so large.
I'm currently playing on Excalibur and have been playing since about the release of jobs in 1.0 (long enough to be considered legacy but not as long as some of those who dealt with many of the problems from 1.0 - i believe it was around patch 1.22).
I'm happy to see much of the community is outraged by these prices, especially those for the small plots of land. Here is my current theory on why SE did something very stupid. I'm giving SE the benefit of the doubt here, I know it's stupid to do so but.... They stated that the gil calculations per server were excluding the gil held by RMT (yea ok...not likely but w\e - If they knew who the RMT were wouldn't they be banned already?!?!).
The cost of the L plot of land is a bit expensive but....it should be. I feel that it SHOULD be something that only a small majority of FC get to enjoy. I would like the ability to "tour" but I doubt that will be possible.
The M plot of land are too expensive. On excalibur iirc it's about 75-million gil. If they adjusted the price of the M plot of land to be 20 million (what it currently is for the S plot) and reduce the price of the S plot to be 5 mil I think many people would be much happier. I come from a small family-oriented FC. With our ENTIRE gil pooled together, many of us are legacy players (some from the very beginning) we have an entire collected gil of about 3 mil. I know shocker..but many of us are more casual oriented. We have families, jobs, school etc.
I agree it should be something to work for but seriously? 20 Million gil for just a small hut....
So yes some will say TLDR but my theory is this. SE released the prices at this rate because they KNEW their servers wouldn't be capable of supporting the housing area if all were bought out within the first week. They also realized that since there is relatively little progression content being released (for those who are currently farming T5, there is none) this would be a way to keep players busy and occupied for the next three months (farming gil) until they can release new content in 2.2.

You don't speak for most of the community. You speak for yourself and no one else.
And here we see the primary source of panic. No one knows how much gil there is. No one knows how many large free companies there are. Everything is conjecture, speculation, and fear of the unknown.I have mixed feelings about the pricing of FC housing but I feel they went about it the wrong way. I'm not certain how large the largest FC is or where the vast majority of these so called millions of stockpiled gil is being stored but what were they thinking when they decided to make the amount so large.
People on the forums are less than one percent of the community.
Not what I'm seeing. I keep seeing the "625 million" number tossed out as though that's the price everything will cost forever.
Okay. I think so, too, but I think the pricing should be the same for all servers.
Since the largest Free Companies will have around 500 members, what does that make medium-sized companies? 100+ members? Does your small FC have 100 active members? My FC has about 30 active members, and rarely are more than 15 online at any one time. We're a small FC and a small house is sufficient. And putting together 10-20 million between 30 people is gonna take a little bit of time, but it is totally reasonable. The M plot of land are too expensive. On excalibur iirc it's about 75-million gil. I'm sorry if having a small house for your small FC makes you feel inadequate. That's the other piece of conjecture the General Discussion Piss & Moan Club has been spouting: the idea that smallest = worst.
SE released the prices at this rate because they KNEW their servers wouldn't be capable of supporting the housing area if all were bought out within the first week.[/quote]
No. But the housing areas are finite, and I'm sure there isn't enough for every single podunk FC with 10 or less members (there are a lot of them) to get a house.
How many people are farming T5? How many people are doing Coil at all?
There's plenty of content in 2.0 and 2.1.
