    Going from PS3 to PC

So I decided to download the PC version after playing on PS3 since... early September I think? I trudged through about two and a half months of regular laggy PS3 gameplay before I discovered the estimated release date for PS4 beta and broke down and bought myself an SSD for the PS3. That alleviated most of my lag, save for really huge FATEs like Odin & Behemoth, and some upper level ones in CPP like Gorgi. Looking at HD screens and gameplay videos from the PC version I can see that the PC version has distinct graphics advantage, though not as great as a lot of people would have others believe (a lot of it depends on your TV, not your PS3). So I decided to try out the PC version. I mean I spent almost $900 on a new gaming computer last year, might as well use it. The biggest thing I'm getting hung up on is the feel of gameplay between the two versions. I chose to play on PS3 despite the spec deprivation because of the controller- you can't argue that a controller makes movement and maneuvering MUCH easier than WASD. Aside from that, how much different is the user interface between PC and PS3? Is the PC version better on everything or does the PS3 version still have some other interface advantages over the PC version besides movement?

And on a side note/question, did anyone else use that benchmark tool SE released to test your system's capacity for the game? I ran mine and got a score of 8563, what did you get?

Its more of a Cross-Hotbar versus Regular Hotbar feel.

If you're only using 16 Abilities then Cross-Hotbar on a Gamepad can be nice. However, most PC players in end-game content have 20-30 abilities set up on three horizontal Hotbars. For this reason alone its far superior with a keyboard and mouse. Not to mention the crazy advantages that macro keyboards and macro mice have. The freedom you are given compared to a Gamepad is just too great. There's also the fact that PS3 players without a keyboard have to stand still for 15-30 seconds just to type a basic reply back.

But I'll also point out; if you love playing with a controller then you can use a Gamepad on PC. Heck even PS3 controllers can be used on the PC these days.

I thought as much, about the freedom part. Looking at it from the outside the feel of the game looks a lot less smooth on PC compared to PS3, but also much more intricate and customizable. In other threads when people were describing mouseover macros, I kept drawing a blank on what it meant. Then there's focustarget too, so...

I also looked into that, but it seems like you need to download additional software and pretty much hotwire the thing to make it work right, easier to just use a Windows Xbox controller.

Anyone experienced uses the mouse to move, WASD is just for supplemental movement. Mouse is 10x better than analog sticks imo.

Also, gaming mouses have customizable macro/special buttoms. I think the PC-gaming is more reliable and gives you more variety.

Yeah mine has all my number keys 1-12, i don't ever even have to lift off the mouse really. only keys i tend to use are tab and the space bar(because jumping around keeps things more interesting for me idk why, i always jump out of plumes XD)

I use an old Logitech Rumblepad 2. It is almost identical to my Ps3 controller and is fully supported by FFXIV. I tried the program you are talking about and never really got it to work the way I wanted. The key binding for the Rumblepad2 is already in FFXIV so you don't have to spend time remapping it. I switched a few months back from the PS3 -> PC and just could not get use to the keyboard. I had a high rating I think around 9800, but I still can't see odin sometimes, but I think they are addressing those issues with patch 2.1

For PC, I have tons of freedom. Moving the mouse easily. Accessing maps, duty finder, items, inventory, character's equip very fast. Plus, I can search online for things as well, listen to music, and such if I'm grinding Fates for example. I think that really outweighs the PS controller.

    Speaking only about "Graphics"

Going ps3 - to PC is a Huge improvement

In ps3 you play 24 - 30 FPS and resolution of 720p having horrible variations of frames. With a Medium Graphic settings.

The ps4 version could be a decent improvement for price/perfomance 399 dolars for play 1080p - 60 FPS

    Ps4 1080p - 60 FPS

    High Texture Qualify.
    High Shadow Qualify
    Low Tesselation
High Effects in the water or Reflections
Some FPS variations in crowed areas 40 - 60 Frames.

Good PC - Intel i5 Cpu OC 4.5 ghz, 16 gb ram, GTX770 or R9 280X.= $800+ Expensive but this in my opinion will beat ps4 graphics for a Lot using dx11 upgrade.

    Good PC 1080p - 60 FPS.

    Very High Texture qualify
    Very High Shadow qualify
    High Tesselation
    Very High effects
    A few FPS variations 50 - 60

    Gaming PC - Intel i7 cpu OC 4.5 + ghz, 24 - 32 gb ram, gtx780 or R9 290X = $1000 Single card $ 1500 + Sli/CF. This system is for the people enjoy gaming outstanding qualify.

Gaming PC 1400p/1600p or Multiple Monitors using SLI/CF this resolutions have almost the Double of pixels 1080p.

    Ultra texture qualify
Very High Shadow qualify - Ultra In Sli/CF
Very High tesselation - Ultra in Sli/CF
    Ultra Effects
    50 - 60 FPS - 100 + SlI/CF

For me the only Noticeable effect in DX11 is the "Tesselation" this is a gamer changer experiencie. Having Zero/Low tesselation vs High/Ultra the diference is Huge.

The Teraflops and Memory Bandwidth of ps4, is not enough for handle high tesselation lvs, maybe in 30 FPS can handle "medium" but Never High/Very High/Ultra levels.

In conclusion. Even on ps4 you cant compete in Graphics/Smooth FPS Gaming exp vs PC. Say in PS3 the game Feels Smoother than a Pc Is silly ^^.
