He mentioned recently ( I think the most recent letter) that the game needs them and that they are a big part of what makes Final Fantasy Final Fantasy, but also mentioned he would like to do it differently then FFXI.

I hope they find a good way to implement it. Different doesn't always mean good. Trying too hard to be different and original is the reason why this game is so broken. Sometimes using a system that has been proven and that has been perfected by many other games before is a good way to go.
I'm all for originality and making FF XIV unique but only if those systems actually work as well or better then the systems other games use. If you give me a boring, broken, useless system and tell me well at least we are not a WOW clone then you could put your originality up your @$$
Different but similar would be great. Similar isn't the origonal, but it takes from the good things![]()

I would have to argue that, not in the sense that they should stray to far of how chocobos were done in XI but the statement "Trying too hard to be different and original is the reason why this game is so broken" I dont agree with at all.I hope they find a good way to implement it. If they actually had content in the game (airships, chocos, companies, dungeons, all the class abilities we were supposed to have) then I dont think many would be complaining at all about the differences. The problem isn't that SE tried something different/new its that they released to early with no content.

Content is not the only problem. The game would still be as broken with the current systems. The main reason they are holding off additional content is because they are trying to fix the foundation of the game first.I would have to argue that, not in the sense that they should stray to far of how chocobos were done in XI but the statement "Trying too hard to be different and original is the reason why this game is so broken" I dont agree with at all.

Jumping:
2. It is preferable that there is no jump feature in the game.
Area wide chat channels
1. The addition of area wide chat channels. (ex. /1 will post your message in channel (general chat) and is seen by all players within the area.)
Party search system
1. Add a system that makes it easy for players to search for party members with the ability to see who is looking for a party a possibly for reason/ game content they wish to party for.
Mounts
3. Both systems, System 1 for advanced players and system 2 for low-level players.
City to City transportation system
1. addition of aircrafts and other transportation methods that will let you travel between cities and also from cities and camps without the use of Anima but will take longer then teleport.
Auto attack
2. i'm against an auto-attack feature.
Enemy ranged attacks
1. Make it that melee type monsters may not be able to use raged attacks as it takes away the advantage of using a ranged/caster class against a melee monster.
Removal of the "Defend" ability with a shield
2. remove the defend ability and replace with a "block" attribute that will randomly proc when fighting. the higher your block value, the more damage is absorbed.
Limit breaks
2. No i am against that idea.
FFVII style Materia
1. Addition of Materia items that will boost stats. (ex. +20MP, +50 HP etc...) and other types of Materia that will boost class specific abilities. (ex. Makes healing spells grant 15% more HP)
Addition of Buffs for each class that they can use in a party scenario.
1. I wish to see this added.
Removal of Physical levels
2. No i like Physical levels ( but each job must have their personal set of stat point )
Removal of the Fatigue system
3. indifferent.
Character progression system
1. Yes i'm all for it.
Changes to Leavequests.
3. option 1 and 2
Leavequest party search
1. addition of a system that let's you, when activating a leave, see the players near you with the same leave quest so you can ask them to join you.
Experience and Gil rewards for Sidequests
2. leave it the way it is.
I'm sorry for my bad English

well of course there are other things I didn't mention but I dont think trying to be different or original is what caused these. releaseing to early IMO is the main issue at hand.
