I've played Eve Online, it took us month to build a space station that we ended up loosing anyway. But that what we've been told from the start.
Never they said: "Space station gonna be for everyone".

I'm pretty sure they actually gave hints long ago that housing is going to take many players at least a year to save up for, which is why many early crafters were in such a rush to make bank.

A FC can hold 500 people * 250,000 per person = 125,000,000 this can pay for a large, first-class plot nearly in all none legacy servers.
Legacy it's the same, with the added cost of hoarded gil, and gil carried over from 1.0
So the numbers are correct, the bigger issue is SE seems to have forgotten that XIV has no real economy. So making back what is spent
is not easy. I see housing being in large a collection on 90% empty land lots as few will spend gil for something, when there is no real way
to recover the monetary losses. If i had 100,000,000 right now, i would not spend 50,000,000 if a way didn't exist for me to make that gil back.
