I dunno much about PVP but being a tank in SWTOR was awesome. We did decent dmg, stayed alive and have abilities that healers would beg us to use and when working together it made for a fearsome team. "Hate" moves would reduce dmg other teammates would suffer if the enemy focused on other players. Done right it would cut the dmg healers suffered down by 80% if the other players focused on them and not the tank. We also got recognition for playing "Tank" like in fights as to boost our rewards at the end of the match. Though there's no telling how it will work in XIV but I did feel tanking pvp was awesome in SWTOR. So it is "possible" that tanks will have a big role to play but we'll have to see if this dev team actually pulls it off.
