    Lalafell Furniture

My friend and I have an ongoing debate about the size of furniture in FFXIV. He insists that it's unfair and inconvenient that all furniture and buildings seem to be made for larger races, but I can find a lot of reasons why it would be this way.

Still, it makes me wonder. Even in Ul'dah, the architecture is all made to accommodate tallfolk. Giant doors, stone benches you have to hop up on, railings too high to see over. Lalafell stand on stools behind the counters of their own shops, and I couldn't find a chair less than half my height, even as a taller lala. Maybe things were updated over time, but with so many Lalafell, and even the royal family, it seems odd that there are no clear signs of small accommodations.

This is really pretty trivial, but with so much lore and flavour in FFXIV, I wondered if there were any hints or mentions of Lalafell and the size of their surroundings? ARE There areas that are sized well for us little people? Or what are your thoughts on the topic?

I think it's is a sign of multiculturalism in Eorzea - Ul'dah may have been founded by lalafell, and still has a lalafell on the throne, but it's society is a eclectic mix of all races and clans, just like Limsa Lominsa and Gridania. Eorzea as a whole is multiracial - there is no dedicated 'home' of a certain race, as all the races actually originated elsewhere (unlike FFXI which had the hometowns of each race).

Also it was my understanding that of all the races in Eorzera hyur are the most common (I'm talking from a lore-perspective and not based on player character numbers), hence it would stand to reason that door/seats/railings etc are built more for hyur and taller races than lalafell which together would vastly outnumber lalafell in population. Sadly it's just a matter of numbers.

Also remember that Ul'dah was built to be a show of wealth and power, they would have built the passageways and rooms to impress the taller visiting races.

And hey, the Sultana has a General to sit on. If that's not power, I don't know what is!

I wouldn't be surprised if S-E will implement lalafell sized furniture in the future. FFXI had them so I doubt they won't do the same for FFXIV.

I only used Ul'Dah as an example because it's the main city that has a lot of Lalafell history. Since most of the architecture is stone, I thought it would be the place most likely to show signs of being made by smaller hands.

I definitely agree with this reasoning, and it's the same argument I often use. Making things like furniture lala sized would make them unusable for most other races, while Lalafell can still use furniture that's too large. It seems fair for everyone that way. But my friend still insists that it's racist, that there should be some furniture made to accommodate smaller guests (Kiddy tables, imo)

Of course this debate is really just for fun, there won't be anything that comes of it. I just thought it would be interesting if anyone had noticed funny scenes, npc quotes, flavour text, etc.

I've been hoping they'd add something like that with housing. Guy thinks Lalafell should have tiny furniture? Well guess who'll be decorating our FC house in 2.1... >:3

It goes the other way as well, I've got a really big Roe girl and all the furniture seems inconveniently dinky for her, she can't fit on the inn beds without curling up.

Ul'Dah specifically I think you can justify as it being bad for business if everything was built to Lalafell scale, you want your customers to be able to get through the doors and the majority of your customers are tallfolk.
