Thread: The system I would liked to have seen for buying plots of land

So instead of going on about how bad the current plot buying situation is, I'll offer up an alternative that I think would work much better.

It's basically how we purchased top ranks for hamlet grinding in 1.xx. For those that weren't around, basically you could turn in certain items to gain points that would help boost your positioning for the next time that hamlet came into effect. The higher the rank, the better drop % you were supposed to get.

So instead of having to outright buy a piece of land for an outrageous price (not sure how that's a bidding system SE), every few days have the current highest contributing FC for a piece of land claim it (permanently, or until abandoned/removed). Each bidding period opens up more plots of lands for bidding. Points could be gained by contributing gil, crafted items, gathered items, and whatever else everyone in an FC could work together to gather.

This way, the FC's who want housing immediately can spend the money they want to secure a plot of land, and the smaller FC's know that eventually the competition for land will shrink and they will be able to win a particular piece of land.

You could even say that 20% of whatever you bid is lost forever, helping to remove the mass collection of gil and materials already on most servers, or at least on my server anyway.

Thoughts?

FC points to buy. It would make sense to have the FC highest in regard to the GC to get the biggest house.

Perhaps FC points could be used to purchase an item that could be turned in for bidding points?
