Economy is stagnant and Housing costs will keep it there.

First let me say that I'm all for housing being somewhat expense and something to work towards.

However, I feel that the current suggested prices will have a negative effect on the game and it's economy.

It was mentioned before by the devs that they hoped the demand for housing and furniture would help alleviate the flood of materials and items on the market that have pretty much ruined the economy. I am a crafting enthusiast myself and I can say with confidence that most FCs that can afford a house will not need my (or anybody's) crafting services. They can and will craft anything they want or need and the market will remain stagnant with either materials or furniture that not many people can make use of.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the economy is garbage and cannot support the suggested prices of land. This looks like it will be a huge bottleneck.

Isn't going to be a demand for Furniture, since Housing cost so much >< Silly SE always think they know what's best for us.

If anything SE just opened the gates for more RMT activity. This stupid high price will make people buy Gil.

I leveled up 4 crafts for housing not going to get much use out of them on my server 312mil LMAO........

Mention this in the large thread too, there's an ongoing conversation there about the really high costs, and I don't think people appreciate how the AH situation is on Sarg.

This. And it's genuinely infuriating. Honestly the least liked thing about the game for me is the poor use of crafters and gatherers. If there was one thing I could bring from 1.x to ARR, it would be the crafting-based economy. RMT an issue? Deal with it by hiring more people. The more RMT accounts they ban, the more the RMT have to buy new copies of the game. The more RMT buying the game, the more money SE can use for employing more people to deal with the RMT. Don't penalise crafters, penalise RMT.

Only hope would be if they increased the gil from leves to the amount it was in 1.0 (5k - 10k gil each leve).
Only way I see the housing working is decreasing the land prices or increasing the gil income.

    Truth.

Whatever you thought on housing are. If you think it's something to get now and are pissed at the prices, or if you think it's something that should take a long time to work toward, that doesn't matter.

As a part of the game economy, housing is a gil sink and nothing more. Taking this amount of gil out of the game will depress the prices on everything.

In my opinion, a gil sink of this magnitude is not necessary.

You're right, and it goes deeper. If anyone has, in the back of their mind, a desire to have a house for themselves at this point, even hoping against all hope that SE will reduce the price of land in the future...

    A) They will be more reluctant to assist their Free Company with such a huge purchase, thinking maybe to hold onto all that precious gil for their own house, on some distant dawn.

    B) They will be more reluctant to participate in the economy for *any* reason. Do you really need that crafted item? The dungeon drop you already had will have to do. Better save every cent you have for that house. Don't spend it on the AH for any reason unless absolutely necessary.

Crafting Housing stuff won't be valuable until Personal Housing is released when people can buy their own house but Personal Housing won't be released for a while.
