I'm assuming it's going to be a black horse/unicorn, as Nightmare is a recurring enemy in FF games. Maybe only THMs at level 30 can get it, like CNJs and the unicorn.

I realize the Ancient Buckler wouldn't be on the wards, but the Buffalo Calf should be if it was in the same situation as the Blue Bird. That is why I didn't think Blue Bird to be a new item.
