    Lag driving me crazy!

Okay I don't know if its my comp or my net or the game servers. Since thursday I have had horrible lag. Like at some points it will lag so bad that I can't even dodge and will die in a dungeon. I am sure its due to the game cause I'm on a friends TS right now and they aren't lagging one bit and I'm not to them. When I log into the game my character will lag but TS won't.

Now if I'm not mistaken when its just my game character that means it must be the server for me then right? Any tips or help or w/e? I really need it! I did updates the 11th of this month on my comp but that slowed it down so bad that I just went ahead and restored to before that point. Cactuar server crashed on Wednesday around like 9pm and since then I've been getting such bad lag.

I logged into game and my lag is still there. I checked the little wifi statement and what not. It reads that sending is like 0-40 and the recieving is 240+
So its my game with the server apparently it seems no?

The more players that look into the problem (either on their own, or with their ISP support staff), the more we find it is an issue in routing--more often it winds up bing the third-party partners that are carrying your data across the US, into Canada, and eventually to SE's ISP's segments.

Best way to get help with it is going to be by contacting your ISP. May stand a better chance if you contact them through their online portal (online chat or an email option)--the guys that answer the phone usually just go through the motions to verify your modem is working properly, and getting it escalated to the higher level support staff can be difficult at best. When you go through a support portal online, you usually stand a better chance at getting to T3 or higher faster.

If you can at least identify the IP your FFXIV client is using to pass that along to your ISP it can help them troubleshoot it more effectively. You can get that by running Resource Monitor (resmon from the search or run box) and looking for the ffxiv executable in the Network and/or TCP sections while you are in game. If you are on XP, you will need to use something like netstat from a CMD prompt. What you are looking for are the IP's starting with 199--those are the Canada based IP's your game is using (the one starting with 124 is a background connection to Japan and doesn't appear to be as much a problem as the ones to Canada). Providing tracert or pathping data (run them from a CMD prompt, and copy/paste the output by right-clicking in the window after running it) can help even more, since it might actually identify where the connection is running into problems.

Running the tracert/pathping tests <shouldn't> be necessary to get them to take action, but it may provide more incentive if it indeed is showing a point of failure or high congestion along your route. They can generate these reports themselves if you give them the IP to use (they in fact will run a LOT of similar reports during their testing). The most important thing to provide them is the actual IP your game is using--as this gives them the specifics on where they need to be testing to/from.

It seems that there have not been any further posts about this concern being an ongoing issue. Because of this, we are considering it to be resolved. If this does continue to be a concern, please create another thread to further discuss resolutions or contact the Support Center at support.na.square-enix.com for assistance.
