there is a rumor of an interview in the magazine Dengeki Playstation of 25 may 2011
Yoshida talks about the PS3 version and more.
Someone who understands Japanese has there been the article in your hands?

I have to wait for mine to be shipped over by a friend, so won't have my grubby little mitts on it for a while.
In a semi-related note, I came across my copy of Famitsu from when FFXIV got announced the other day when clearing out some cupboards! http://yfrog.com/hsbdhedj
I have a feeling it will be another delay due to the psn hacking. My dad said that because of the hacking, sony had to make new developer kits and send them out. And since ffxiv uses the full internet, they might need to remake using the new dev kit. (just guessing based on what he told me)
Sorry to contradict you or your dad but that's completely untrue. No new devkits were sent out and I can assure you the old ones work perfectly fine.
How do you know? My dad knows has a few developer friends and was a sony forum mod. Still has a "privilaged" account due to being a sony beta tester. Even got a signed copy of the socom 4 soundstrack.
Got a source for that info?
Pretty sure a gaming news source would have covered it by now if it were true (IGN, Gamespot, w/e). Its not exactly something that would need to be hush hush, and they would have covered it since every new news with sony is front page atm.
I work in the industry. Also, being a mod on the forum has nothing to do with "insider knowledge", gimme a break. And as Sojiro mentioned if it were true everyone would be aware of it already, stuff like that doesn't just slip under the radar.
Use some common sense, if your PS3 works perfectly fine after a firmware update why wouldn't a dev-kit?
And it's funny you ask me for a "source" when you're the only one claiming something happened in the first place, where's your source?

I'm a game developer and the company I work for is working on a PS3 project. We're still using the same development kit we've had for years, Sony haven't said anything about needing a new version, nor is there any reason why they should. The PS3 hardware isn't going to be able to be changed so the development hardware won't need to be either. All security improvements will be software based on the PS3 hardware or improvements to both the software and hardware of Sony's servers.
