I clearly need to move to a non legacy server if you can net between 1 and 2 million gil by simply leveling one job to 50. Just makes me wonder how you are supposed to get 5 times that amount on a legacy server doing the exact same content, with the exact same rewards.

1-2 Million gil? 4-5 people on a legacy server would have to earn 5-10 million gil if he was being honest. In this case, where the hell is my gil?

My FC thought Wed be doing well with 13mil saved up, but it looks like we won't be getting a house anytime soon.

It's also a little discouraging as a member to donate. Thinking "well we're millions and millions of Gil short, the 100k I would've donated isn't really gonna help much."

Exactly, with all those gil bans being handed out, wtf were they thinking with the housing's prices. We wanted it since 2.0, were told to wait until 2.1, we waited without a release date FOREVER, then we get videos of the housing and a release date and apologies for being made to wait for so long, only to now reveal that 99.999% of those playing won't ever set foot inside of the houses, not even the small ones... SE has me all kinds of pissed right now, I don't even feel like logging in, I'm gonna spend the rest of the night playing Halo 4 and tomorrow I'm playing FFXI, in my eyes, Final Fantasy XIV has stopped existing for the rest of the weekend.

How so?, ok look we can dig deeper-

On my server (non-legacy) a first class plot costs 8 million gil-
You have a FC with 8 people, thats 1 million each.
You have a FC with 16 people, thats 500k each
You have a FC with 24 people, thats 250k each

So if you have a medium sized FC with 24 active people, it will cost you 250k for a small First Class plot of land. Even less if you wait for the price drop.

Our FC has 31 active members (logged in during last 7 days). I'm not sure of the house sizes but I've read the small one is about the same size as inn room which is too small for that many people. I'd assume we'd need a medium size house which would cost at least 75M (plus, you know, the actual house). This would mean all our active members should donate a bit more than 2,4 million gil each. For the lowest price medium land, not even including the actual house and furniture. Most our members have somewhere between 50k and 1M. To buy us a common house they would have to farm more gil they've ever even had. I don't see how this could be seen as reasonable.

-Because not everyone is on your server
-because they said in the live letter that small house was design with 4-5 man cl in mind. 20 is just ridiculous
-Because they said it would be affordable, even rift a free to play have a more affordable housing than this. Everyone and their mother can get into it.
-Because in 2.0 everyone, on every server, had the same way to make gils. Punishing the majority of a server just because they happen to have some filthy rich on them is not the way to go.

I highly doubt a small FC house is the size of an Inn room. A small plot of land on a legacy server costs 10mil when you add in the discount, if your legacy 31 man FC can't afford that then your FC is dirt poor.
