I think the primary thing here the development team did not in fact calculate is that by the time anyone can actually afford to buy a house, there's going to be thousands of millions more gil generated and the prices would be completely moot at that point.

It's as if they didn't consider how much the average person has and how many members are in the average company and only took into consideration how much gil has been generated by RMTs and people who do nothing but grind money and sell Titan runs (and most of those people can't even afford it).

I manage to get far more gil than the average person on my server, but even if 8 of us in my FC managed to make the same amount, we still wouldn't be able to afford it for ages.

What is the point of releasing content for people to enjoy and hyping up that content if no one can actually use that content until months down the road? You might as well have sold the houses at release and just implement furniture now because it would only be now people (very few) would be able to afford it.
