I hate dungeons....

Having to constantly group up in dungeons just to play the Main Story is NOT why I play MMOs

The key is in the word(s), MMO. Massively-Multiplayer-Online.

I braved the dungeons to get to 50 but hated them, people were often rude and critical and I couldn't understand why SE wanted to force me to play this way, it is so contrived and predictable. I feel as though I am being forced to play their way

It may be an old thread but let's make something clear - just because someone has an issue with how (some, not all) people conduct themselves in a Dungeon, this doth not maketh "Dungeon(s)" the problem. As for 'being forced to play their way', see above - it's an MMORPG. If people walk into an MMORPG expecting to wing it solo like a SP-RPG then they are setting themselves up for disappointment.

I'm curious, if you already endured dungeons to get to level 50, in what ways are they still limiting your crafting/gathering/fate experience? It sounds like you've already unlocked all the content that require you to run dungeons. You should have complete freedom to only craft or gather to your hearts content now.

If she didn't gone in dungeons post-50, then she don't go to Heavensward areas nor Stormblood. And she may be losing access to receipts, the crafter/gatherer quests on these areas (such as a level 63 botanist sidequest on Idyllshire that grants access to Leaf Turn III) and the access for the maps on those areas to gather herself the needed material.

I worked in a pizza shop for awhile some years back. Plenty of lactose intolerant people order cheese-less pizzas(or normal people who get a normal one for themselves and a separate cheese-less one for a no-lactose kid). Weirdest thing i remember from back them was one customer who would order a medium pineapple pizza with no cheese and no sauce... so... pineapple chunks on a crust. THAT made no sense.

The problem is not that the game is a MMO, the problem is that this is a MMO with a lot of toxic players. I'm still amazed by that every day and I have the feeling that it is even worse each day...
You can't just simply have a good time in this game anymore, good times are particularly rare (so they are even more enjoyable) it's always like people are late or have a train to catch.

Everyone here seem to say that it's a MMO. Well yeah, so please be polite, say hello and bye (the bare minimum i'd say) and don't be rude. If your run lasts 23min instead of 21 it's no big deal, you won't die. Let new players discover the game and have fun. It's not because you play a MMO that you have to deal with toxic people and insults and all.

I'm often saying to myself that I'm really pleased to have discovered and played the game since its beginning. I wouldn't like at all to be a new player today and discover it today. I think that if it was the case, I'd find the game awful and would just stop play it.
I think I would be kinda like the OP.
