- Multiplayer means being present or playing with other players, does not mean in a group or forced grouping
- The fact you are in the same place as another player makes it multiplayer

there is a different between multi player games and multiplayer games, lost in the many acronyms floating around.
multi player game: game with many people playing the game in an shared overworld without any forced relation to each other. Or for easy to say a game with many players.
multiplayer game: game with many people playing together or against each other in groups or teams for an defined goal. Or for easy to say a team game.

FFXIV has a multi player part, like the overwolrd and many of that stuff, and a multiplayer part, like Dungeons, PvP, Raids, Trials.
I can fully understand that people hate it if they enjoy the first and are being forced into the later to progress the first.

No the post is serious, I never liked MP groups, never liked them due to griefing and similar stuff that seemed to become the norm more and more. I play games to enjoy the gameworld, story and gameplay, the challenge. I DO have a damn good time playing with other players as impromptu encounters like ESO does things, but hate structured groups where human egos and stuff get in the way. I have played Elder Scrolls Online since it came out, been a sub member for most of that time, loved the game and actually loved the multiplayer PVP when you one person in an army (basically), best MP experience I have had. I just don't see why FFXIV had to do this, why make players do all these random group dungeons...none of the other MMOs listed above did. GW, GW2, RIFT and ESO don't do this.

You my friend with these types of comments are the reason a lot of people have nothing but bad things to say about the community. I get MMO's are a great place for people lacking social skills but maybe you should worry less about someones opinion of a game and more about that..

There are many different types of players in the game and many people who have different phobias. I do not agree with people negatively putting someone down or telling them to leave because they have a request to make the game more enjoyable (from their perspective). Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a choice whether to kick someone to the ground when they express this opinion, or pick them back up. Again, everyone has a choice. I hope the OP finds some enjoyment and meets wonderful people in this game.
