Is Final Sting's damage relative to the Bee's health? Sometimes it hits for 2000, but other times they just pluck you for 700 before dying. The only discrepancy I can think of is that it scales based on their health (lower health, higher damage; full health, low damage). This is just speculation, but it seems to be consistent that high health bees do low damage and near-death bees one shot you.

I noticed this especially on the first boss because it seems like if the DPS don't actually attack the bees at all, they don't one-shot anyone with sting. I am starting to wonder if it is just better for DPS to focus burn the boss and just let the bees suicide on the tank at full health for little damage.

The bees die so fast there is no reason to avoid killing them. If you kill them, they don't get to use final sting at all.

Right. Except I can't click other people's buttons when you get stupid DPS in DF. So I am seeking an alternative that involves them not having to do anything at all, which most excel at.

By empowering their do-nothing attitude, you would only exacerbate the situation! I'd go with annoying s.e's that say BEE BEE BEE BEE BEE or something with <t> in it.

That fight's all on the DPS. They need to kill the bees quickly. To my knowledge there's no other solution to that problem.

I kinda do want to test this now. Last I ran Qarn I was a SCH...and was able to tank both Bees' Stings during that boss twice in the same fight. I can't remember their health, though.

And yes, I know DPS needs to do their jobs...when this happened we were in the middle of scrambling for Doom and the BLM couldn't DPS them in time.

Bees have to be burned first, otherwise the healer tends to oom or party members start to get plucked off.

Not sure if they changed it, on release sch could eat both final stings in boss with aq and ss up. You hand to run to get slight separation between the hits but it eliminated the lazy dps issue. They always did 55% of target's hp. The bees outside did static dmg.

I always thought the bees were an insta-kill?

from what i'm aware if you don't damage the bees they don't one-shot you.

either that or they don't if your above a certain HP %. (not sure, don't go to qarn often.)
