PVP - Ideas & Expectations!!

I've been a battleground junkie in a certain un-named MMO; I've seen it all over the years in that un-named mmo, and I'm quite fond of instanced group pvp.

With that said, if I were allowed the option to choose between PVE and PVP in FFXIV, I'd definitely go the pvp route--if it were a viable alternative, and not just some thrown together thing to try to appease pvpers.

I'll let you in on a little secret: PvPers don't really care about "lore": just throw a bunch of us into a nicely designed zone and we're more than happy to smash each other's faces in--repeatedly.

This would solve a grip of problems(and induce a ton of gloating), which I am all in favor for. We have a ls on our server that is pretty big but as long as I'm not a dunesfolk dog I think I have the survival skills.

This is... almost offensive.

First, I could list many Asian MMOs with PvP. Lineage, TERA, hell even DragonBall Online. Oh, yeah, FFXI has PvP in it too. :P

Second, there will most likely be PvP in FFXIV someday. It just won't be the hide-in-bushes-and-repeatedly-gank-players-30-levels-lower-than-you PvP so you can laugh at them. And, frankly, I'm okay with that.

Those other games had pvp, however it wasn't really an alternative, for example in WoW if you did pvp you got some of the best gear in the game FOR pvp. Oh and hiding in bushes ganking people? That's why you don't play on a pvp server LoL. The good players didn't hide in bushes ganking low lvls, they sought after challenges in the arena against people with equal gear and levels. And if you consider Ballista in FFXI pvp....just sad, it was so pathetic and such a pain in the @$$ to do. Asians loves making everything take forever though, perhaps its due to the no ladder - reset system. TERA is looking good though but they had so many years to watch the other games like WoW own the MMO industry. You think a game with WoW's speed and FF's graphics would of already been released....i just dont understand these guys.

Don't forget Ragnarok Online. Best PvP fights are if you need to defence your guild castle against 3 full guild incoming ^^
Without a good strategy and organisation and the right classes on the right places you have no chance against the top guilds.
