If you have to spent unnecessary MP on some player who can't avoid AoE (For example tank or melee dps.),
why don't you complain to them :x

It's well known in all of gaming that the best damage mitigator is ending the fight quickly. Early on in the game I found myself running oom frequently and the bard I usually run with was using ballad. But since it reduces her dps, the fights would drag on longer. I eventually realized that a lot of the problem was my own MP miss-management. Basically I learned how to play my roll better so the bard can simply dps, except in more demanding situations where ballad is more useful. But talking about regular df dungeons...? Nah, I don't need it.
EDIT: I have also ran with df bards who used ballad needlessly, like I still have more than 50% mp and shroud of saints will bring it back up. The bard uses ballad anyway and the mp is maxed in seconds. So it goes both ways.

BRD needs to l2foe requiem more
Not really needed for farming tomes. As a whm i never need songs and as a brd we sing on request. Ill sing ballad when I think its needed or when requested but dont just expect me to be singing songs all the time cause im not.

OP are you having issues dodging AoE on DF dungeons and we the bards are the noobs?

Whats a song? I'm too busy pew pewing!
Pew pew pew!
The only time I ever use the songs is if it's needed or if someone asks me to do it.
Half the time if there's another bard in my group, they never use the songs and I'm the one who usually ends up turning them on, I think I saw a small number of bards use their songs a few times, but that was only rarely.
But mostly, I just use the songs if the situation calls for it.![]()

Ridiculous. I utilize all my songs, except maybe for army's peon since almost no one ever needs it. During WP runs I ALWAYS use swiftwong in between. And with a BLM I always use foe's requim. For I almost never use manasong during speedruns unless requested by the tank for flash. And if a healer needs it I think they need to manage their heals better. I see a lot of healers keep casting even though the tank is almost full, and after a short while complain that their MP is running out.
During boss battles I do check if manasong is needed on my own. Usually use it around 20/30% mana left. Then quickly put it up with battle voice. After 30 sec I drop it again...
IS this hard? No. Do some people whine and should play better themselves so we don't lose dps? YES!
from lots of DF partys experience.
you guys are the number one job not doing your job almost none of you use ballad on the mages when there getting low, some even argue and wont then rage quit like you jumping on them.
it will make life so much easier for all of us if you just watch the whm's mp. not everyone is a AOE dodging master so mp gets eat up fast.
FYI, the bards that actually take the time to read these forums arent the dumb DFs that dont know anything about the game and how it works. Forum goers are actively trying to learn about the game and improve. The guys your complaining about arent really this audience and wont hear your plea.![]()
Thank you OP for this gem of a thread! It meets all the criteria of 'Forum Gold'
