    More disciples of magic!

In FFXI, there was a ton of mage jobs. I know the ones in XIV sort of combine a few of them, but come on, there are only two!

Will this change when the job system comes out? Because currently, I do not enjoy the disciples. I would like a Blue Mage, a true Black Mage, an armored mage-fighter (ala DRK), A SUMMONER! (An FF game without a summoner?! Even XI got this clear back in Zilart.), something akin to SCH that focuses on magical mastery, and a sort of cleric-y paladin style of caster.

Also on that note, where is the thief style job? Another FF staple missing.

Pug was supposed to be similar to thf, I believe. But that got all messed up. Arcanist is another mage job in the works, and I am sure with all the ass stomping SE, is taking over smn, it is in the works.

I agree, we definitely need more mage classes, more classes in general actually.

It's funny how some of the most popular classes through FF's history were completely scrapped (so it seems) in XIV. Summoner appeared in 13 games, Ninja in 15 of them, Thief in 18, and Black Mage in an overwhelming 20 installments. Over the years many of these jobs/classes became icons representing what FF was all about. What happened? Sometimes I think they might have been better off releasing XIV as something other than Final Fantasy.

But, I guess the good news is that they seem to be working on making this a real FF game. Hopefully with that comes these jobs, I really can't imagine an FF without them.

I thought when the dev said "there will be 1 advanced class per discipline" (not word for word) it kind of answered this question, so I think we will see more, at least 2

More classes just makes it that much harder to balance the game. /shrug

I'm pretty sure the jobs we're getting will work something like Rift's system but much more flexible, essentially jobs within classes. I can't see them adding, for example, the Summoner job without first adding an Evoker class first, or something similar. And I'm fairly sure I remember them saying that no new classes are planned for a while.

That's not to say that we'll never see them though. What's obvious is that we will need to see new classes before some of these jobs make an appearance.

uhhhhh thats not going to be new classes, thats going to be a role on top of some disciplines, well i suppose how many unique skills/spells they get will decide if its a new class.
but really i wouldnt expect new functionality out of them even if thats teh case, they are still supposed to be specializations.

i think they definitely need some more mage classes, they could really use an enhancer type class.

Also, it still seems like the ARC and MYS files are in the game? Add them back!

We know that Arcanists, Mystics, and Muskateers are on the way. That still leaves us with 8 DoW classes versus 4 DoM, however.

i dont think they need a lot of DoM, but i hope they havent scrapped the other classes in game, and i hope they have more classes coming.

As it is though dom dont have that many viable skills for swapping, of course they may kill the effectiveness of cross class skills greatly, because people bitched, soooo i guess we ll see
