maintenance every 2 days....

I understand that they didn't want to rush things but it is getting to the point i want to beat my head off the wall!! already 2 maintenance this week now a 5 hour maintenance during prime time NA playing hours on a friday night.. that is 3 maintenance within a weeks time of the upcoming 24+ hour maintenance coming starting monday night/tuesday morning. Please SE I love this game been here since beta phase 1 and want to be here a long time but the steady several times a week maintenance since release date is making people question the game life here. People are starting to wonder if its more broken then 1.0 at this point and to be honest we run a fc with 512 members but we are cutting around 15-20+ members every week who have not returned to the game or played in over 30 days. I am glad that new people are joining the game to keep the numbers up but how many of the are going to stay with things the way they currently are. We need long time players to keep the game going long term.

I frankly don't care how much maintenance time they take this week. I'm really waiting for next patch anyways. I only logged on this week to do coil and hit myth cap.

First of all, the maintenance you posted is ISP maintenance in which there may be dropped connections for some or all players briefly. They are not taking the servers down, but there may be intermittent service interruption during this time.

Secondly, for major content patches which have been stated to require additional / changes to existing network infrastructure, downtime is required. Lastly, you are greatly overexaggerating the number of maintenances. I believe there have only been 12 or so maintenances in the last 60 days, 10 of them being scheduled.

Called growing pains for square. Every company had gone through the server maintenance stuff in the last 10 years. FFXI they got to mellow on the structures, because different time and age. While the rest world mmos were going through this stuff on there games. Servers are not cheap and most them would start small and then need to improve once they got a successful game. Just in last 3 years a lot of people have gotten spoiled. Since most the big gaming companies have there structure all ready set up and easier and faster to fixed, nowdays. It still sucks though and I believe a lot of it was from the failure of 1.0 and they were to afraid to invest in a strong server structure.

It comes down to "deal with it", since you can't really do anything about it. SE could move the times, but then a different group would be affected.

At least i appreciate SE doing constantly Maintenances to fix bugs, implement hot-fixes, improve server-structure and so on. I prefer that over playing on broken servers.

please check this thread from lodestone site and cycle through the pages there have been significantly more maintenances then any game i have ever played. FFXI almost never had any. They are not ISP maintenances the ones listed shut the servers down at least for one hour minimum each time they occured.

Pseudopsia this is kind of the point you barely play the game enough as there is lack of content as you state your self log in to do coil cap myths and then dont play the rest of the time. There are lots out there who enjoy to play the game but want it to get better so it holds the interest of users to stay playing the game want to play it more. Lack of content and maintenances several times a week is frustrating to a lot of players but I am really hoping / praying it gets righted after the 2.1 patch.

I counted 11 maintenances in the last month and a half, with 4 of them being emergency.

FFXI almost never had any.

LOL please tell me when you started playing XI. I can almost guarantee unless you were living in Japan it was at the very least 1 year after release. And even if you did start on NA launch, there were still maintenances every week and emergency maintenance almost every other week for the next year after that. Whenever there were large content patches (like 2.1) Maintenances were extended to 8-12 hours.

Regardless, this thread is pointless. What is crying about maintenance do for anyone? Nothing. There are problems, they need to be fixed, the downtime required is for the greater good. Or would you rather play on servers which could crash at any second?
