What level item do you gather - or maybe it's better to ask what % gathering chance do you gather?

What do you use your GP for?

Lately, I've looked for items that I have a 95% gathering chance, so that I can use 50gp on field mastery 1, and always be at 100%

Often I can run between the node that gives gathering bonus, HQ bonus, and extra attempts, and use field mastery 1 on the 2 that have 95% chance, and never miss. Of course, I prefer to gather after resting in an inn, and use the survival guide too

Use LEVES if you want to level your gathers quickly. As long as ur nodes give you at least an 80% chance. You wont need Field mastery, unless its the evaluation Leves.

The leves normally switch between normal gathering leves and evaluation leves. Evaluation Leves can net you up to 25% extra XP if your points are high enough.
Two types of Evaluation Leves:
1. 8 Node Evaluation leves: Use Field Master I for regular nodes, Field Mastery II for the gathering bonus nodes, Field Mastery III if you've got enough left at the last node.
2. 4 Node Evaluation leves: Use Field Mastery II for all nodes, Last node Use Field Master III to maximize on Eval. points
The other leves, you dont need anything.

NOTE: Generally if you have around 400 - 500 GP, this method is usable 100% of the time. (You wont really have this much GP until you get your lv 25 accessories)

Got my miner from 30 - 50 in the last 3 days with this method. Gonna do the same with my botanist

I use leves + GC manuals to level my gatherers. Use a manual at the counter then pick up another one to maximize it.

I only grinded Botany when I needed materials for cooking. Otherwise it was all leves.

I did evals. If you pick up the leves but only do the eval, you can lock it so it only gives you the eval. You spam the easier item till chain 4 then use vigor for the 100% hit and use it on the harder item. This will get you max eval.

I usually farm an item a little below or at my level. HQ gathering gives substantial EXP bonuses.

Gathering the normal way isn't really suggested but if you have to do it, Pull up a good movie and just grind by gathering normally. Trying to level off HQ gathering is something that's done by chance and isn't 100% reliable. Just make sure your gather chance is at least 85%. The plus side is that u have make extra money from the HQ/NQ mats

Using JUST evaluation leves, you wont need more than 30 - 40 leve points. So keep in mind that u want to save as many leve points as possible.

I've felt that a 95% gather rate is the best XP. I go to the nodes that gives 10% bonus, 5% HQ chance bonus, and extra attempts ONLY. I use the ability that gives 5% bonus to gathering on the two nodes that don't have the gathering bonus. So I'm gathering the highest level item which I can always have a 100% chance - using about the amount of GP I recover as I run from one to the next....

Gathering and Mining was a grind for me, there was no strategy, only endurance and persistance. As someone said, the survival manual from the GC +3% routine + rested bonus if possible + a movie or whatever helps you get through it.

I'm amazed and disapointed more people haven't considered the most effect use of GP and % gathering chance (yes, I just quoted myself).

Yes, obviously leves and manuals help, but there are other subtleties like really taking advantage of the rested bonus, and how you gather what you gather... If I always log out in a sanctuary, and always start playing with 30 minutes of gathering (while registered in DF) it’s really not such a grind.
