Tanking on PS3

Hi ya just wondered if any of you guys playing on PS3 find cool downs unresponsive, quite often i find my self having to tap the button a few times before the game activate it.

it can often make certain situation more tense than need, Hallowed ground seems to be the worse for it ._.;

Maybe need a new Controller ?

Not sure if you know this, so sorry if you already do... Hallowed ground takes time to cast, after you use it there's an animation and it takes about 2 seconds for you to become invincible. This is extremely frustrating and I think that SE may have made a comment on reducing the animations for skills in the 2.1 updates.

Yep, was about to say Hallowed Ground does this same crap to me when I find myself tanking, thanks for the info!

Yes I am having the same problem, especially when I do SR in WP

It happens on PC too - I have both. I actually DPS on my BLM on PC and I prefer tanking on PS3. I do sometimes run into having to hit Fast Blade 3-4 times and freaking out because I'm not sure if I am lagging or what, but I find movement and flexibility greater on PS3, everything is at your finger tips as opposed to a PC with a traditional M+KB where your buttons are all spread out, and you might have to take your hands off your movement keys to silence/stun/etc.

You can tell if its your controller or not by paying attention to the skill icon when you are trying to activate it. Every time you attempt an activation it will light up white for a split second to show that attempt - if its lighting up, its not your controller.

yes the skill does light up, but doesnt seem to activate right away, usually hits 2nd time (i.e Cool down begins) so i doubt its controller, as i got 2 controllers so they both can be on way out >.<

I have the same problem. I've always assumed it has something to do with my macros though. I don't know if you have it set up this way as well, but I have Fast Blade macro'd with Bloodbath and Fight or Flight, so when I tap my R2+circle it does one of those three things. But when Bloodbath and ForF is on cooldown, I think the game gets weird and it isn't smooth in casting Fast Blade. Does that make any sense?

The new controller thing also could make sense. I've had this controller as long as I've had the console, and I got it back in 2008 if I remember right. It's never failed me though!

1. Dont use macros
2. Icons can appear to be off cooldown even tho they are not there yet which will make them seem unresponsive
3. Hallowed does take a second or 2 to actually trigger
4. There is a global cooldown for actions and you have to wait for that to end before using another skill no matter how many times you press the button

Sometimes this happens when an action you have previously used is not completely done. You just need to get used to which moves you need to wait a small amount of extra time on before you can actually activate another ability. I think this is what you mean, otherwise if you mean the skill takes a second then like others have said Hallowed Ground is "prepared" before it activates, or spirits within has a delay while your sword charges, etc.
