It doesn't surprise me. I wish it surprised me. I'd rather be surprised than bored.
I'm sorry but just because the old ideas of stat based combat are "old" doesn't mean they aren't still legitimate genres of gaming people still enjoy. If you don't like a certain aspect of a game they don't play it, instead of getting them to change something the whole game in some way or form is based on.
I hate rpg's with no stats why i don't like Fallout and stuff like mass effect no stats you got stuff like speech..........

Stats Management can be a big key for the customization of your own character. It plays a fundamental role into what your character's spirit is based of, and that's gonna be a real good feature when the algorithms will be perfected and when the Coliseum will open its gates.
Man, I still remember the times of Ragnarok Online, where I could beat the crap out of everybody with my High Priest =D
I think a rpg without a stat system is not a real rpg.
Except life action rpg, there you need no stat system, but a trained body.
