Why did you choose to gear 8 different sets when you can meld HQ patrician + materia + food and HQ any 2 star with NQ mats? This is what i'm doing and am trying to figure out why a person would choose the 8 set route. I invested maybe 500k-1M in failed materias and i'm done. All I have to do is an offhand for each class and i'm done. This is not a criticism but i'm trying to get some insight, so please don't be offended if I came off as rude.

I'm going for the max sets also, its like an achievement for that DOL, AF gear, if you will its job specific.

If I had leveled Paladin and Tank, sure I can go for that all purpose tanking gear but the class specific Warrior gear is what makes me stand out and max out stats.
I'm sure someone will come with stats and things on how it is superior and how easier it makes your life and all that but by all means if the Patricia set works then go for it, I see many people in that set, but like I said its just a personal achievement thing, its like an obsession, we want the best of the best. All that hard work grinding to 50 and don't top it off? No way, I cant do it.

Im like a perfectionist when it comes to this, other areas not so much. Maybe with your DOW or DOM you feel the same way.

I think it was mostly for looks. I wanted to feel accomplished in each class separately. And also I found it to be very fast, so given I only started really playing the game in 2.0 release and I was able to get all the melding done anyway even for 8 crafts I thought why not. Something else that made it easier for me was my free company who supported me with donations of shards/crystals/materia etc.

Oh about the guide..in depth don't even begin to describe them thumbs up. I subscribed to them but needed them long ago as Im almost finished leveling now :/

I will check out your crafts of the AF Gear and tools , that's what I am doing now.
