Sorry, I don't know how to upload a picture here (or if it's even possible) so I'm linking to my deviantart account.
Have a look! I took some time to make this chart!! I think it makes sense!

They don't seem to be going for the FFT style of unlocks.
The way it seems to work based on rumor and hearsay is that you just need to be one specific class to unlock a job. Once you unlock that job using that class, you can use said job on any other class, and currently there will only be one job for each class to unlock until they add more later.
That you need to be one specific class to unlock a job is not rumor and hearsay. It's the only established fact in the debate. We don't know that there will only be one job for each class.
Nice job, looks neat. As the others have said, it doesn't look like it'll work that way, but it would be a pretty neat system. I'd hope each job gains more than the select abilities you suggested there in the actual system, though.
Edit: To add, I think when we eventually get Arcanist, it'll probably gain jobs like Scholar (very similar in looks and personality to FFXI's scholar, although nothing similar in abilities, i'd expect SCH in FFXIV to be considerably different), or Sage or something. Or Mathematician! That'd be sweet. Maths mini-games deciding damage and status effects for all!
From the art previewed several months ago, we can be fairly certain that Dark Knight will be in the game.
It doesn't make much sense that DRK would be a straight outgrowth of Marauder when it half of it's abilities are rooted in the Thaumaturge class. (Berzerker on the other hand..)
For my own part, I've always been a fan of the FF Tactics job prerequisites system and I would love to see it emerge in this game.

I would also think it would be nice to have some jobs that need to have more than 1 class at X rank in order to unlock them. I think it would be fun and at this point and time there is nothing that says otherwise in the info that was given to us. ^^From the art previewed several months ago, we can be fairly certain that Dark Knight will be in the game.

yeah i agree with Perrin.
From what i've read (probably from the discussions about the latest Dengeki article) If you have gladiator at R50, you can unlock the Paladin Job - however, it would be cool if there are prerequisites Ranks for a related subclass to your Job, for example the Conjurer in this case for the Cures. Thus while there may be a specific class to unlock a particular job. You would be kept busy by being required to level some other classes to unlock jobs.
If a specific class requirement for specific jobs then it would probably look something like:
Job > Main Class > Additional Sub Class/es
Paladin > Gladiator > Conjurer
Samurai > Gladiator > Lancer (Unlock Great Katanas)
Thief > Gladiator > Pugilist (Job will be restricted to Daggers)
Dark Knight >Marauder > Thaumaturge
White Mage > Conjurer > Thaumaturge
Black Mage > Thaumaturge > Conjurer
Red Mage > Fencer > Thaumaturge
Monk > Pugilist > Gladiator??
Dragoon > Lancer
Ranger > Archer
But as you can see, Dragoons, Ranger, and even Monks in this system would seem to be pretty straightforward advancement from their respective base classes.
Well Dragoon is technically a Knight type job, so you could say Lancer and Gladiator
Ranger could come from Shepard and Archer (since you would be gaining the tracking ability like a Shepard should have)
I would see the Musketeer with the Pugilist turning into a Corsair (not another Ranger)
Summoner goes where?
Summoner could just be part of Conjurer as originally Conjurer was said to be able to summon spirits. Part of story line also (I think cant remember much).
This is insanely good though nice work, I like it and I would also love the requiring 1 or more classes at x level to unlock something new. The only issues is you want to allow new players years from now the ability to get to to these classes. Though if they keep the lock down to like rank 20-30 which is achievable in like 2days-1week respectively I dont think it would be much of an issue.
Awesome work on the chart tho love it.
