    Why I quit

    Hi,

I'm not really posting this to flame becasue I haven't played FFXIV in weeks. I loved FFXI, and it will always have a nice warm place in my heart, and as a result, no matter how many times I give up on FFXIV, or quit for that matter, I'll always be watching to see if it will once again be playable.

I quit because I like to level on my own time. I dislike the idea that when I login, I have to either A. do leves by myself, or B. find a group to do leves, or C. suffer with bad exp, and grind.

In games like Perfect World, I would grind. In Forsaken World, I would AFK level. In FFXI, I would put my party flag up, and grind". "I WISH to the heavens FFXIV had a similar party system." On RIFT, I would do PVP, on S4 League, I fight "pvp", on Rakion, I fight, on Aion, I get a power level, on eve, I can afk lvl "obviously".. the point is there is ALWAYS some way to level. Accept on FFXIV. I'm stuck doing boring leves, or camping behest. Who even came up with leves? Quests that you must do over and over and over and over? Were they too stupid to come up with a real quest lines with fresh new quests? Even most games that offer quests, you can grind just as easily, or instance at the least. But here. You have leves, and behest. I love behest, but I absolutely hate to leve-- and as a result, there is almost nothing for me to do in FFXIV unless I want to craft.

So this is why I quit, and I don't mean to flame or anything, but I really hope this game gets its stuff together, becasue I'm tired of all the wow clones. Almost as tired as I am of leves.

    I don't see you're problem, quite frankly.

If you're happy doing all those boring things in those other games, you should be satisfied doing leves in FFXIV.

Im not saying FFXIV is good, im just saying you have double standards.

I agree. The entire game is one big grind, and unlike other games, which disguise grinds with story quests and etc, this game does not and gives you metal plaques and say "go grind, but you get some better XP/SP/Gil for doing it this way!"

It's almost sickening. I could bear the game if it wasn't all grinding with no storyline content...I mean the quest spacing is a bit ridiculous >_> You get 4 or 5 from R1 to R16 or R18 or something, and then no quests again until R36....

EDIT: And about sidequests, most of them are ridiculously simple that have no thought into them or say the same thing as 70% of the other sidequests (SURE ARE A LOT OF GARLEANS EVERYWHERE that you never see).

I agree leves suck but I disagree with you on Behest, because I think they suck even more...so stupid. We could've got quest lines, cool NPCs with individual story lines (even if short stories), a rich world to explore, something to freakin do...but instead we get repeatables that are boring as hell and broken as hell too.

I also stopped playing till next september, i take a look sometime at the forum to see if there s something new .

I think if there was lot of stuff to do in the game there would be less trollish thread talking about how FF14 s going to be the greatest failure of the world or whiteknight post trying to convince (in the end they convince only themselves lol) how this game is wonderfull and how we got to wait because SE is a great company.

Even on the forum there s nothing to do anymore because everything has been criticize and the main ideas have been said so we always see the same threads poping over and over.

Dont get me wrong i like this game and i want to play it but i dont see the point to push my character full jobs 50 doing boring stuffs if thats to relearn to play it after some major updates and if with new content i could really enjoy the leveling phase

I can't flame this poster because it isn't a whiney self-entitled /ragequit. It was legitimate feedback, like an exit interview.

Though I have to agree with some others that wonder why if you do nothing but grind in other games, that grinding to the tune of repeatable quests is that much more monotonous?

But I get what you're saying. SE is good at storytelling. Why did they not build this game on story-driven quest based leveling, and use the leves as a way to fill in the SP gaps and keep the gil flowing (or as an alternative for ppl who prefer grinding as a way to level)? It's backwards, and very boring after you've done it forever.

Quoted for emphasis. XIV has a varied cast of characters, factions and the benefits of being set in a separate world. We should greatly benefit from story questlines with exp tied into them because that means everyone gets to learn about Eorzea.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

YES LETS NOT PLAY THE GAME TO GET EXP OR LVL LETS GO AFK! Get real. Either play the game to play and do things yourself or don't play what the hell is the point of the game playing itself for you?

I rip the axe from the head Covered in blood and brains Leave the body lying dead Ready to strike again
My sword cuts through clothes and skin Like a hot knife cuts through snow I smile as the bastard screams When I twist my sword
Sword in my hand Axe on my side Valhalla awaits me Soon I will die Bear skin on my back Wolf jaw on my head Valhalla awaits me When I'm dead

HaHa the ppl posting in this topic are cracking me up. NO Storyline Quests please... NO Grinding Please... No Leves PLEASE

Perhaps if people played this game as it was meant to be played they would have more fun, Our LS On average has 16-24 ppl on a night to do events. Some days we do World NM, Some days we SP Grind, Some days we do Faction leves, yes it is repetitive, but it is fun because of the people playing. Last night we did SP Grind parties, each party averaged 22-25k/hr when setup right based on the mobs we killed. The people on our server Cornelia, have setup a World Chat to keep linkshells in constant communication there is always someone setting up a SP grind party, only thing that really needs work is the Party search feature. It works but noone uses it, that's a community issue not a game design issue.

As for the quests thingy please try to follow along

    Quests with Cutscenes...

Rank Quests Levels 20,30,36 every job...
    Mission Quests... 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 26, 36, 42, 48

Seems to me if you total that all up I come up with a total of near 55 Quests/Missions with cutscenes that were included in the game from day 1.

Are there issues with the game sure, I wont sit here and deny that, but to say its broken beyond playability just because the majority of others think that as well is ludicrous.
