Is there any good reason to not roll a new toon for each class?

It's pretty lame that Myth tomes/coil are locked out for your character instead of each class. Essentially you play on monday/tuesday and myth cap/clear coil then you have nothing to do for the rest of the week in FFXIV.


So is there any reason why people level multiple classes on the same character?

None in my opinion. Unless you want different characters.

1. Convenience. No hassle to switch jobs for an event (just click one button compared to log out/in)
2. Achievements
3. I am my character. My character is me. One-One relationship -> People remember me better.
When I see a new alt, first thing I ask is "who is this". 1 week later, I ask again "who is this again?".

Cross skills and not needing to constantly log out just to change your role. Within the context of this topic, choose how you want to play within the limitations given/offered to you. You don't have to let someone else decide them for you. If you have the option to play multiple characters, and it suits the way you like to play, DO IT! It's not taboo to do something different from others that breaks the norm.

I finished bringing up a second character to cap just last week (White Mage) who will house my DoM classes. My original, Zakalwe, is my cap Paladin and will house my DoW classes.

The only real inconvenience I've noticed so far is no insta-DL gear on hitting cap. And similarly, no access to any greed rolls from my PLD, who has lots of extra Ifrit/Garuda weapons from when he farmed them on and on and on hoping for a replacement for his GC green sword, before giving up and moving on to Titan.

Leveling a sub class to anywhere up to the mid 30s for a cross class skill takes about a day or two compared to needing to wait a week to get new myth tomes/allagan pieces
