    Yoshi-P New Classes/Jobs Release Plan.

    For people still expecting new class/jobs to be released only for expansion pack here is Yoshi-P statement about new class/job release.

    GE- With ARR we’ll see Arcanist added with Summoner shortly after the game launches. Are there any other classes or jobs you’d like to see added? And will these be added in patches or expansions?

    Yoshida- What I would like to see right?

    First of all, we are planning a new race for an expansion pack. For the classes and jobs, we will introduce them through patches because all of the Legacy players have level 50 jobs anyway. When we introduce new classes and jobs we will probably increase the level cap at the same time.

    About what I want to introduce- it’s more like what I think I have to introduce. Something related to guns because the (musketeer) guild in the game. Something related to that I think I have to introduce.

    Also I do feel that scouting classes are lacking so I want to bring in Thief, Ninja and those that have to do with stealth. Also more casters like Blue Mage and Red Mage are something I would like to add.


    Whatever the players want, I want too.

    I want to know how he plans to make Red Mage different from how Thm, Cjn, and Arcanist/Summoner play right now.

    They could, but they will have to change it for players. If far too overpowered. It's a better version of stun. No way will they give us players something that good. iOr they will make it so bosses won't be affected by it making it a useless skill.

    It was very powerful on FF11 too. So I can see it happening in it's current form. Though I am sure most bosses will be immune.

    That and perhaps more en spells? Setup also like a front line caster, using a mix of TP and MP for abilities. Could be a blast to play.

    They really need to be careful when they release new jobs because everyone will flock to it and queue's will be bogged to the extreme.

    They need to release a set of them at the same time.

    Example: Dark Knight (Tank), Chemist (Healer), Thief (DPS) Time Mage (DPS/Support)

    We really need new mechanics with these classes too... and new abilities for everyone at the same time to promote new mechanics in battles

    How about making Red Mage a tank? Black magic attacks (or black magic infused within the Mages weapon) and white magic for mitigation/self heals?

    I have never heard this idea before, so I just have to say that it is brilliant. Like super brilliant. I really hope they do RDM this way. That would be sooo cool! ^_^

    Don't know if you ever played WoW, but they could work like an Enhancement Shaman which was a class that utilized both offensive magic and melee attacks in it's skill set. I can see RDM pulling this off. Would have to sacrifice healing however. With FFXIV's setup, one job can't be both a DPS and a healer. Perhaps in it's class form, but jobs have to have a specific specialty.

    As for what Yoshida said. I would love to see new class/jobs be added in patches, but for now I am only expecting them in expansion packs. I can imagine jobs being put in patches, since they ultimately derive from an existing class and may be easier to balance out, I am not a developer so I cannot confirm that. Bringing in a whole new class can be a big hassle to add into a patch, when it is definitely easier to add them in when an expansion comes and the level cap is raised, making it easier to add them into the mix and balance it out. I hope I am wrong however and SE can pull off a hard task like that. We will just have to wait and see.

    For new class/jobs, I do think it is a given that Musketeer will probably be next since it has already a big establishment in the game and already have NPC's who wield guns. I do remember once he said he wanted the job counterpart to have dual pistols, wonder if they went through with it. I wouldn't mind a gun+sword hybrid either. I'll leave it up the developers to surprise me.

    I do agree on bringing in a whole new type of damage dealing class like a Scout and let Thief be it's job counterpart. Would be awesome to see how they utilize stealth for damage. Most likely similar to how Rogue's work in WoW.
