I believe mbncd is refering to the building nearby Maelvan's gate. It was actually across the way behind a locked gate with a gavel on a placard over the door.

Also, to touch on the shepard talk, not only did it have the unused guildhall in owl's nest, but the npc in Hawker's alley who sold the weathered DOL equipment made mention to selling gear for shepards. (tho he didnt actually sell said gear)

That's Maelvan's Gate, it's not an auction house at all, nor was it ever one, but actually the ACN's Guild (it was meant to be this even in 1.0 - it had the ACN class symbol on the map).

Right, what I was referring to was a building on the south side of the ferry docks, near where the aethernet node is now but further south. Unfortunately, it no longer exists since Bahamut's attack.

Edit: I'm looking for online pics now. Here's a map showing the missing land mass. Can't find a pic of the place itself.

Edit 2: Here's a map of what Limsa is like now, for comparison. Still no sign of the auction house amongst these zillions of screen shots. Very hard to find due to the phrase commonly being used for non auction house related things. I really wish people would use FFXIV terminology for FFXIV things, it would make it so much easier to find stuff like this... Enough whinging from me though, back to the hunt.

I seem to remember a quest in 1.0 that specifically stated (or an npc )that that locked door was Limsa's auction house.

If you looked around there were at least 4 tacitly promised classes on the very first day, not only was there musketeers Arcanist ( which had a very different weapon and looked to be a straight caster support) and the off hand mentions of shepards. Mihkito's ampatheater also had a guild sign above it similar to all the other guilds that depicted a lute and there were several mentions of bards long before jobs were added.
