I miss the game being a fun open-world adventure like FFXI was too. This tiny instanced stuff is just overdone to death these days...

support, im not from ffxi but i like the idea
Fantasy above reality.

Eldieme Necropolis for ancient papyrus... I will be forever scarred from that place.
I was talking about this the other day in my social. I don't necessarily need the stress of asking a party of max level players to help me push multiple buttons at the same time to open a door and then kill a monster to get my AF in the middle of a dungeon surrounded by mobs that check as VT to them. But I do miss being able to zone into dungeons and explore them. I liked going in places like Uggalepih..it was terrifying at lower levels and fun at higher levels..or sea or sky (begrudgedly)..If I could run a dungeon like AK or WP myself and then have the boss instanced at the end..I'd be good. Makes the world feel larger. I think it'd be more fun if there were random coffers lying around (I know we have these in leves already) or the occasional NM (though I really dont want to fight people for NM pops..I just like the idea of them)

Original FF only had the main continent and 3 nations. Zilart added the 2 islands (Rabao/Kazham), COP added Dynamis and Northlands and that Zilart settlement in the west. TOAU brought Far East. WOTG brought legacy zones.Everyone keep in mind this game is still kinda young. Now with the money from subs and a platform that they can expand upon, maybe they can make content like this. For all the love for XI can someone tell me what map content was in the original XI?
I recently re installed 11 for the free window of play (til dec 23) and there are tonnns of expansions and tons of areas. If i remember right, rise of the zilart added the northlands as well as many of our favorite zones.
Loved this in FFXI!
Going through a zone and not having the predictable "3 mobs round this corner, skip these two and run this side".
Going through a tough zone with multiple groups floating around with an actual purpose instead of joining a party to run to one area to do a FATE and no one speaks.

IIRC, Yoshida did mention that his priority is to create a FFXIV that can stand on its own from a gameplay/population/service infrastruture stand point before incorporate things from FFXI
My blacklist isn't full. Town shouts have pretty much stopped on my server. Tells are down to maybe once a day and I dont bother blacklisting. Being noisy is not the same as being powerful. Even if RMT camps ever sheep spawn for fleece you can get fleece from leves using other materials. Fleece isn't preventing you from getting gear or money. I'm sure RMT died down as FFXI got older, but their effect on the price of gear was deadly.I bet everyone constantly has their blacklist full in this game. Never been spam so much in FFXI nor needed to blacklist gold spammers.
So what?! So I stop getting the constant spams! It's annoying to have to block gold spammers every minute and camp against them when farming for fleece or whatever. Your issue in FFXI is make belief.
On my server ( probably one of the lower populations), everyone I know has a full blacklist. You can still farm and all but the damage to the economy is severe. I don't agree that it's a "tiny" problem, it's huge. Bots in FFXI didn't prevent me from getting my gear either. My blacklist isn't full. Town shouts have pretty much stopped on my server. Hopefully the new beastmen stronghold quests will give us something like this.
