I'm still learning how to play my role as a tank and because my FC is fairly small (though I'm in a larger LS) I generally run everything through DF. I've had mixed experiences with it, but I've never had people bail on me. There was an instance where someone got loot, and they were unresponsive for quite some time so I proceeded into the boss room. Of course I got slurred at, but hey they didn't say they'd be gone and they were given ample time to switch to the gear they looted if that's what was going on.

In any case, the only time I've ever had to abandon a duty was in learning the fight against Titan. One of our DPS's kind of lost it after the third wipe (despite the fact that we kept getting better with each attempt). We were all learning the fight except for the dps it seemed. Either way the other two players were very nice and understanding of the situation, and actually complemented me on my tanking (which is always a plus).

Despite what I've read in the forums, I make sure that I let people know whether it's my first time running a dungeon or not, and offer whatever help I can for first timers. I find that communicating what the needs of the party are at the beginning help make a dungeon run all the smoother. There are times where there is a language barrier (despite region settings and all that), or some players just aren't inclined to speak much.

Overall I haven't had anything I'd call a bad experience. I always ask if there are ways I can improve, or if I should change the way I currently do things. As a tank it's easy to be versatile and we do kind of set the pace for progression.

    TL;DR
It pays to be patient and to communicate.

    How about:

    A) Don't be an ass to your tank.
    B) Don't tell them how to play their class.
    C) Only explain the instance if it is the tank's first time rather than be an ass to him.

By doing these three things, maybe your DF tank will not leave next time.

    Thanks!

    A) I treat others how i want to be treated, unless they want to be treated differently and act like the typical ass-hole tank or act holier-than-thou.
    B) Only if they know how to play their class, or are stubborn.
    C) good idea.

Yeah, tanks get some problems too. Fair enough. But not quite the same issue as what I have seen coming from them.

While this does happen I am sure, that has nothing to do with me or my runs. As a healer main, I know all about that type of elitism, and it's usually the tanks who throw that out there. They tend to have WAY more experience than the DD because of their ability to run dungeon after dungeon. I kinda have that experience because I ran them all as a WHM first. In either case, this accusation had nothing to do with my complaint. Thanks for the heads up, though!

And as a tank you're going to run into rude DPS who insult you for pulling things not their way, accidentally pulling because you didn't see someone type "afk" right away, losing aggro when they unload into a mob before you've even had a chance to get within melee range, not pulling fast enough, or not pulling slow enough.

As a healer you're going to put up with crap too. There are just some crap attitudes in the duty finder, regardless of which role you fill. I've ran into more jerks on my Tank than I have my DPS. That doesn't prove, or disprove anything other than experiences vary and jerks fill all sorts of shoes.

I dunno, as a tank I've seen plenty of bad players playing all roles. It's just more noticeable because it's easy to spot a bad tank. If a dd does bad, he just does less dmg. Also seems like more bad Wars than Plds usually.

This is an MMO. The duty finder is a luxury item. You don't have to use it nor is it a necessity, You can form a premade and que with people you know and not take the risk of getting some impatient rude person.

When you pug, you always run the risk of getting some trash people, duty finder or not. If you can't handle it then don't que by yourself, find some friends.
    luxury????
