Irony in The Free Company Recruitment Contest

The game just launched so I don't think SE is purposely discouraging being in a Free Company. Seems to me like they are still in the "testing the water" phase and trying to give ARR an identity. That and releasing content that should have already been out >_>

They already said we will be able to queue with 24 people via alliance in the future. CT is the first alliance content in ARR and I'm sure we'll get even more down the road. What they NEED to do is grant a bonus for having a party consisting of FC members. That would certainly encourage larger FCs. And of course, the bonus will be a buff called "United We Stand".

I haven't heard of anyone leaving their FC to form their own just to get themselves a house. Personal housing will be added later and those should be much less expensive, so what kind of sense would that make in the first place?

I can imagine the drama now, someone leaves a FC just for their own housing, then Yoshi allows entering CT and any other 24 man content inside FC (forming an alliance outside of the instance) said person tries to return to the FC, please WHEN this happens post your drama, I want a good laugh.

I'll wait for personal housing. FC housing isn't worth the effort, because of a variety of factors:

drama, cliques, egos, and more.

Why waste millions of Gil on a "potential" breakup? I would rather invest that into something I know isn't going away. I have seen quite a few people making small FCs for their own housing.

Don't worry though i'll sell you all the materials at a high price and reap the benefits!

Even though we don't know yet how much a housing spot cost. I am sure I would not be able to get that kind of money..nor would I want to. I like playing with my FC.

I wouldn't be surprised either if the right to buy a house is rank 6 entitlement. So people that are leaving and forming their own FC to buy a personal house may find themselves in a situation where their own personal FC isn't leveled high enough to get a house.

I may leave mine cause people in my free company are either 1) excited about but don't contribute or 2) give two shits about it. If I have to do everything for housing why not start my own free company?

2. Can use any buff you want
3. EXTRA STORAGE SPACE!! (Having all crafts I run out of space alot)
4. Linkshells for endgame and chat
5. You make all the decisions.

Idk afterclisting that a may just do it. A few weeks is wwaaayy shorter than 6 months. Hell who knows they may drop personal housing in those months.

Its pretty obvious that they did free company housing first to test the system out. There are lot less FCs than individual players, so they can see how it stresses the system and work out any remaining bugs. If housing goes well with FC, it won't be long before we see it for individuals.
As for waiting half a year, I waited for years for housing in WoW and they're only just now introducing it in their next expansion (by which point I've completely stopped caring about it). Half a year is nothing.

Or perhaps there is much more to Free Companies that has yet to be implemented. Perhaps it is you/us that "has no idea whats really going on with their game." So far this team has been nothing if not long term oriented and from what has been revealed over the course of the last 3+ years about what is planned, we are just scratching the surface of this game, it is still but a skeleton of the game they are developing.

I could be wrong though, maybe what we have now IS all we will ever have and nothing will added to over the life of the game.

Am I the only one who sees the FC as something for just you and your closest friends? Then use LSs for end game raiding groups and other groups of friends you occasionally spend time with? I feel the majority of the player base got these backwards. Or I just feel it's more practical to swap their intended use?
