    Minor Paladin AoE Change Suggestion [Shield Swipe]

    This is a very minor change I'd love to see to the Shield Swipe ability. Currently, this ability has minor use as a TP conservation proc when tanking a single monster/boss (although it does not generate additional enmity).

    When AoE tanking, our rotation is Flash, Circle of Scorn, Flash, Flash, Flash, etc. While AoE tanking, we use mana exclusively and do not use TP (unless tanking 3 or fewer monsters).

    My suggestion would be leaving Shield Swipe's 40 TP cost and 210 damage, but splitting the 210 damage between all targets in front of the Paladin as an AoE cone. I am not asking for additional enmity, just hoping that we can use this proc in AoE situations as well (since we block frequently). This would also encourage the Paladin to keep monsters in front of them (although it does not affect block, parry, or dodge chance).

    I don't mind this idea. As it is now I removed shield swipe from my bar and just do flash if TP is ever getting low lol. Shield swipe feels near useless in its current state.

    If you're going to do this you have to increase the TP cost. The reason Overpower does damage and has extremely high enmity when coupled with Berserk is because of it's TP cost and WAR's inability to replenish that TP without Foe's Requiem. If you're using that 40 TP every time you block then that will be replenished within that 2.5 seconds, so it would literally just be extra damage at no cost during AOE... which is kinda not fair. WAR has a similar sort of thing in Steel Cyclone (+ extra enmity), but it costs all our Wrath stacks which is something we have to manage. That said, since Flash and Shield Swipe both sit on the GCD, it shouldn't be brought up to 130. 120 would be fine, as its now a cost vs reward and you can't just regain to full TP in one tick. Maybe it SHOULD be 130 since its based on a proc, but I dunno... it'd take a lot to balance properly. Bulwark would also have some use in AOE situations lol

    This suggestion changes nothing. Halone is about the same potency per GCD and has an huge threat modifier on it. This ability would only be used when you are far ahead in threat and/or need some TP.

    The problem of course comes from the knowledge that the devs think the PLD is overpowered in its current state, why would they improve something that is already to strong? Something needs to be done with several skills that are... lacklustre lets call them... but how do you do that without making the overpowered, even more powerful?

    They are overpowered in terms of damage they can mitigate. Hopefully this will be balanced with the WAR next patch (or at least close to it), and then future content will be designed to give the intended level of challenge. They also appear to be on par in terms of damage done when not tanking. However, they ARE behind the WAR in terms of damage done while tanking. So I think there's some room for improvement there. Shield swipe seems a good candidate for this sort of thing, since it's only really useful while tanking. Perhaps as an off GCD ability with a short cooldown and lower potency.
