Guam player, stick to US/NA server or move to Japan server?

Hi I am a player from Guam. Guam is a US Territory in the Pacific about 3 hours of flight south of Tokyo, and same time zone as Brisbane, Australia.

I have been playing in the Faerie server, a US server. Guam being a US Territory, I assumed that the best server for me. But geographically, Japan is much closer.

    My problem is two fold.

    1. The first is latency. I am getting killed by AoE attacks even though I clearly see I am in the safe zone. Is this a problem of server latency or the game has just bad netcode?

    2. The second is player times. I am playing when much of my FC is offline. Granted, there are enough players in Faerie that during the ungodly hours of NA, I can find enough players to PUG. Still I feel like I'm a soloist.

In order to lessen latency, I am considering moving to a Japan server, hopefully with a large number of English speaking players like from Australia and New Zealand.

So the question now would be which Japanese server?

I don't think switching to a japanese server would fix your latency problems as I think all servers are in canada as far as I know. They are working on adding a fix for the latency issue for certain battles with 2.1 I think. Probably best thing would be if they added a pacific/ oceanic server like most do for australia/ nz. Im not sure which server australian players gather on or if there are many. I would wait until after the patch next week to see if that helps with your latency problems rather than spend money on a transfer and still have the same problem.

Seems some are in the dark n think all servers one location . Jp servers are located on the jp data center at Tokyo. While Na eu are located in Canada.

Most of English speaking ppl that populate the jp data centers are in massmune(legacy) or tonberry ( new server). U will probably get better latency on the jp datacenter since ur closer to it like many oceanic players. But it also depend your ISP. You might want test the ping 1st. If both datacenter bad for u then u might need tunneling service .

In Montreal to be exact, which is on east coast.

@OP you should be playing on Japanese servers given your location.

Do they speak french in Montreal? Because it would at least make some sense to have EU servers there
But yes its interesting to know its on the east coast in case you use a VPN like i do. New York is the right server!

Yes, it's mostly French. It's the location rather than the language that matters. Having servers on west coast wouldn't work for EU players.

Eidos is located there too. SE saves a lot of money having it there because the Quebec government subsidies the industry.

Connecting to a JP server you shouldn't experience any lag or anything. I live in Tokyo and my connection to US servers is fine so Guam shouldn't be all that different.. but yeah you'll definitely have a much better connection Guam-Japan

You should get better latency connecting to a Japanese server opposed to going all the way to the east coast of North America. The challenge will be finding a good English speaking community on the JP servers, but some people above made some suggestions.
