I'm surprised no one has mentioned that we will have different sets of skills for PVP. Also the fairy would have a big target sign on her face.

Okay. And then I have a minute to kill your fairy and you. You still only have 3 Lustrate stacks, your fairy is dead (they're strong against AoE, but melt with focused damage). Your Adlo shields are cute, but unless you get lucky (and it is only luck at this level of Crit), it's gone in maybe 1-2 hits. Just 1 if it's a SMN and they Fester you.
The same can be said of SCH, but unlike SCH, WHM doesn't have 50% of its throughput (or more) tied to a pet that can be much, MUCH more easily killed than you can be as a player.I've played pvp focused games most of my mmo career and I am concerned that my WHM will have a hard time dealing with incoming burst damage. Someone mentioned Swiftcast holy, which is a good start..but you do that once and then you will have to cast it normally, channel through hits and lose time which you could spend on raw healing. Not to mention I am sure pvp gear will have plenty of resists against debuffs, sleep and stuns.
The truth is, Healers are going to be bait. It's how we're currently designed. We have 0 get out of jail free buttons, even with Swiftcast. Between the two, I'm a bit more worried about SCH. Don't forget that they don't have a single instant-cast heal without Swiftcast.
Any PvPer worth their salt is going to focus the fairy specifically. AoE protction isn't going to do squat to protect fairies.I also really hope they keep the Fairies protection against AoE in mind for PvP.

Until PVP is released, everything in this thread is all about theorycraft.
In XI, though I never PvP'd at all, Provoke in a PvP environment forced the target to lock onto you for a period of time, which is no where near what it did for standard PvE. If SE decides to take a similar approach, there could be many different uses for skills.I think GW1 had a skill do something completely different in PvP versus its PvE application. In Ragnarok Online, you lalmost never took a healer to PvP or GvG, because spike damage was so high anyway people were better healing themselves via pots (there was no CD on potions in the game).
In general though, PvP has generally favoured high spike damage to kill a player quickly, so abilities that can help mitigate damage or extend EHP tends to be more important for PvP style game play (IE, SCHs > WHMs given their tool kits). But for all we know, that might never be a factor until, once again, the PvP is released.

Good points.
Btw, I didn't post this thread, we are just discussing in a thread by someone else (since you were annoyed that I supposedly posted two of the same threads). I even mentioned earlier in this that I just found this one after posting my concerns in the general discussion area.
I posted a rather ugly clear with me solo healing Turn 1 on the Adamantoise server forum last week. It was done in spite of poor play on my part, and could easily be improved upon by better players.
I am virtually full ilvl90 gear, and I can say the WHM in the guild keeps up just fine in PVE healing. In theory though, SCH will be way too good in PVP. You got instant cast pbaoe snare for kiting, pet heals, dots, nukes, shields, aoe slow, healing reduction dots, haste on selene, healing buffs on eos, infinite mana(pretty much), lustrates, can sprint without losing any dps or healing, cleanse, and damage reduction debuffs.

All of which can be easily dealt with with the right comp. In particular, you may not be noting exactly how much of your "strengths" are bound into a single pet that can effectively be 2-shot.I am virtually full ilvl90 gear, and I can say the WHM in the guild keeps up just fine in PVE healing. Even without the fairy, scholar still has plenty of tools at their disposal:
Stuns and silences are rare among most classes so it would be difficult to stop heal spam, and scholar can go a long time without needing MP.
Adloqiuim crits can absorb a lot of damage; more than 50% of the scholar's total health with decent gear.
Lustrate can be used up to 6 times when first entering combat, and then another 3 times every minute.
Miasma II is an AoE slow that would make it difficult melee to keep up, especially since they have a no-penalty Sprint every 30 seconds.
Miasma is also a 40% healing debuff, greatly hurting any self healing DPS has.
Leeches can handle any debuffs thrown on them with its 1 second cast and no cooldown.
Swiftcast to quickly bring back the fairy or another player (if ressing is allowed).
I can easily say scholars look too good for PvP, even without the fairy.

Since we're all theory crafting, let me donate my 2 cents as well
Personally I think we will not be able to use any Cross Class Abilities, which means no Swift Cast, which means once your pet's dead, good luck finding 6 seconds to resummon it.
Honestly there's just too much stuff we don't know to make a clear picture, for example:
How will skill cooldowns be handled? Two Possibilities:
1) Start of match, all skills will be available to use
2) Start of match, skills go to CD (like how you change class while not in town)
If it's the 2nd possibility, Scholars' gonna cry due to 0 Aetherflow stacks for the 1st 1 minute.
All in all, 1 more day till the Live Letter, so let's sit back and enjoy the ride, start your "OMG this class OP" stuff next week, when we have hands on![]()
