I haven't seen it said already in this thread so my suggestion to fix this bug is to [spoilers] not press the windows key [/spoilers].
while i agree that it is a total bugger that the game crashes in full screen when pressing the windows key or alt tabbing. until they can get around to fixing it. And they really need to fix it we as user will have to deal with it.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216893 (disabling the windows key)
as mentioned above steam offers a overlay for games launched with it, simply press shift+tab after launching the game in steam to access it. this will allow for web browsing while the game is launched and in full screen. and if you dont already have steam installed.. what the heck is wrong with you =P http://store.steampowered.com/about/

The most easier solution would be not to play the game until they get their directx working. Works without any problems
Also that moderator post was awesome. Next week, someone will probably discover you can't kick someone offline from a LS.
easy fix, get a program like sharpkeys (most of these programs are free), and disable the windows buttons..... they are pointless anyway
Feedback and suggestion:
Don't have the game close and disconnect when fullscreen is lost (like nearly every other game I have ever played)
*blinks* uhm I hate to say this... but that's why there's a windowed mode so it doesn't crash when you do things like hit alt tab and or when you accidentally hit the windows key... from what i remember it did the same thing with ffxi until they implimented windowed mode.

A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
I made this bug report on behalf of a friend of mine that recently started playing FFXIV and got disconnected from a guildleve and failed it as a result of pressing one button on the keyboard. The mod moved it here for discussion and now you white knights are embarrassing the entire community by defending A BUG because you get off to Square Enix. You should think about what you post and the consequences of it, because this isn't some random forum where you can voice your stupid opinion with no consequences. Every time one of you fails to support something that improves the game for newcomers you are making Square Enix a stupider company for listening to your feedback.*blinks* uhm I hate to say this... but that's why there's a windowed mode so it doesn't crash when you do things like hit alt tab and or when you accidentally hit the windows key... from what i remember it did the same thing with ffxi until they implimented windowed mode.
Lol did the square enix apologists really tell people to go to microsoft and have the windows button disabled?
Really? Is that what we're doing again, defending and justifying the game's frank industry standard-failing nonsense?
No other games forget what directX they're supposed to be running when they're alt tabbed off of, when the computer calls for control of display, or any of that ****. Just Square Enix games. That is PATHETIC.
Their programming is behind the times, with lazy console spoonfed skill sets. Not going to cut it.
What the reason for it? Security? HELLO this game is a cheating botter's paradise. Fail.
There is no excuse for this. This game freaking out when anything but it has control of the display is a feather in the cap of how mind-boggling behind standard this game is.

o.O wow I was just pointing out that that's the reason to as why they implimented the whole windows mode because of things that happen to that. There was no need for hostility on your part of that reply. I remember the same thing happen when I played 11 and it would log you out and crash the game things happen. Anyway it's up to you or your friend to use windowed mode or not *shrugs* no skin off my teeth. And quite honestly it was put in the general discussion where people could voice their own opinions on the matter. So without further ado. Thank you very much. You have a wonderful day today sir or maam and I hope you start to feel better down the road.I made this bug report on behalf of a friend of mine that recently started playing FFXIV and got disconnected from a guildleve and failed it as a result of pressing one button on the keyboard.
