Eh, the puns are one of fun.
I actually see more people complaining about the lack of originality in the other language versions.
How can you not love everything she does is magitech?

I worked at a shelter for a while. In the spring we got a influx of kittens. We had to name them all. Its a real bitch to keep coming up with new and interesting names, hell its hard to come up with different names at all. We used to get on book or movie kicks just to make it easy on ourselves and have a bit of fun. I imagine this is what SE does as well. How else would you like our quests to be named? Boring names? Ifrit I, II, III, IV? SE is doing the best they can in a game meant to entertain us all. At least this way some of us get a smile out of it, if only for a few times.Yeah, what you wrote was ALSO lazy writing. Half-assed puns don't make for compelling reading material, hence why Dr. Seuss only made children's books. Takes a bit more brain power to find a creative way to represent or convey idea than to just look at what x character does and try to shoehorn it into a pun.
Translators were like: "Oh snap, we're watching TV! Let's name every single FATE as we change the channels and find pop culture references. If we are doubtful, let's go to tvtropes.org!"
PR/Marketing group is like: "No time, sell it now, too strong!"

Ohhh! I Just Died in Six Arms Tonight! It must have been something you said!!!
Erm...ahem...I'm sorry you were saying?

I also like Ice Ice Baby.
For Leviathan, how about: "Snake on the Water, Fire in its Eyes"?
Server: Sargatanas || Main Job: Scholar || Chocobo: Bonchon

I think WoW is probably responsible for making people think a wordplay equivalent of Micro$oft is supposed to be clever, though it's hardly unique to even gaming. If the Heat lost a game, it'd usually have something to do with 'extinguished' or 'flamed out' and so on. You can almost predict what the pun is going to be depending on the nature of the entities involved, and at that point it's no longer clever and you might as well just have "Heat loses" or "Titan (Hard Mode)".
