SE, the puns are getting out of control

It's actually a pretty valid argument. People just can't seem to grasp that I'm arguing quality over quantity and not against puns in general.

For every clever pun that someone posts in here, there's an equally bad and nauseating one. For example, how about "Mud About You" in Mor Dhona. It grammatically doesn't even make sense. Wtf does killing mud puppies have to do with Paul Reiser anyway? Is it funny? No. Is it clever? No. It's just bad.

Welp =| they're not gonna change something they've stuck to for so long, specially since it's only the minority complaining.

Personally I like them, and will admit I roll my eyes at some, but I like that they try to be humurous when some of the quests are pretty serious. It also adds a bit of uniqueness. That's jusy my opinion though.

From what I understand the Japanese quest/FATE names are pretty dry too because I tried to tell a Japanese player what quest to look for and he literally had no idea which quests I was talking about because the names are radically different, so instead of having the guy who translated Zerowing they must have a guy who wanted to impress everyone with his cultural knowledge.

And the whole 'no publicity is bad publicity' argument is just dumb. No this isn't something enough to affect your gameplay, but FF14 has replaced WoW for the dumbest puns in a MMORPG. I suppose there are guys who wouldn't have continue playing if they didn't see a FATE like "Mud About You" but I really doubt it. The good ones don't count because every MMORPG tries to have good puns occasionally whenever it makes sense, so if some puns are good it's not more than what a typical MMORPG would get right.

It seems like the EN version is the only one that tries to be funny with all the puns and pop culture references. All others (JP, DE, FR) have "serious" quest names.
