    WoW just WoW......
What yall asking for? gaving a desert on one side of the map and a frozen waste land on the other? I like the coherency we got. I wasn't into WoWs map design. I thinkffxiv is pretty good and not as bad as ppl claim. I think people are just too bored and over anylize the word down to the smallest pixel. Imo the maps are varied enough and if you play ffxi Think of it as combining west/east ronfaur, north and south gustemburg, and east and west sarutabaruta.

TBH ffxi had similar mapping styles as ffxiv. There is only so many eco systems in the world as well as climats and tarrain types.
we got deserts (rock or sand style)
    swamps
    plains/ savanas
    forests
    moutains
All based under hot or cold climats.

Honestly I seen worst mapping in two words tbh.

Also welcome to rpg, your gonna get run around quests. Even ffxi had the, as does WoW and nearly every rpg. Least it isn't like Zelda it it being timed, Like several quests I knew of. Like Zelda OoT to get the great sword from the huge goron.

I like it better when you were suspended tbh. We're not talking about two worlds are we? we're talking about FFXIV in comparison to FFXI. West and East Ronfaure hardly make up the same area as all of Thanalan for instance, you would add on top of that Latheine Plateau and probably even Jugner Forest and Valkurm and you have one zone in FFXIV except that in FFXI there is Ranperre's Tomb, Ordelle's Caves, Beastman Compound (forgot its name in Jugner) and Ghelsba, The city, a Crag, a port town (Selbina), another cave zone in Valkurm (don't remember name), different scenery and different music.

    I completley agree.
What's the point of having a big map if there's nothing interesting in it and you just copy paste the terrain?
There's no purpose to it except for maybe to validate the teleport system that most people would gladly sacrifice for more traditional transportation.
gaving a desert on one side of the map and a frozen waste land on the other?
Oh, you mean like The Black Shroud and Thanalan where you're running through a harsh rugged wasteland and suddenly you're hit by a lush twisted forest?

This is what the pleas have come down to?

Well I for one will hate the look of CURRENT areas from now until eternity if SE doesn't do anything about their blandness.

Honestly even if they add a ton of new areas these starting areas will ALWAYS make the core of the game. That core looks boring as hell.

How in the world did they manage to make most interesting environments in the history of videogames in games 1-11 and then suddenly throw all their skills to the garbage is beyond me.

XIV looks like someone just wrote "basic hills" to stock photo search bar.

Who are you to decide whats fun and entertaining; and what is not?

I am actually am enjoying myself, Yes the game needs a lot of work, but to say to not just me but everyone that loves/likes the game that they are insane or crazy.. I find that rather rude sir.

[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] And why did you read what you wanted to read instead of what I actually wrote? kind of manipulative if you ask me. I said anyone who enjoys the gameplay portion of the quests, which basically have you running around for ages for a small cutscene at the end, is only kidding themselves. They are boring and repetitive from the first quest to the last one. [Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.]

those are different zones. I meamt with in the same map. Like take thalan it self 1/2 is desert then the other 1/2 is frozen with ice. And for the record there is a gradual change when your about to zone to thalan from the black shroud/ twelveswood. there is a rock tunnel. Much like ffxi did.

In ffxi the would felt smallker because the regiona were built from smaler zones. Pretty much in ffxiv take 1 reagon and make it a map. So really we are seeing the ffxi like maps just of the region not the smaller zones with in said region.

Imo there also planty of wonders to see. Like 5 hangs, bearded rock etc. Still have no idea why 4 sisters is called 4 sisters though. I'v also been seeing these weird covered wells/ vent shafts. Kinda curious about those.

[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] ok, I'll give you an example of a transition region from XI...when you went from Latheine Plateau to Jugner forest the area leading to Jugner in Latheine got denser with trees...that is a transition region. From Thanalan to Shroud there is a tunnel lol..how is that a good transition region?

Well I'm not alone in crying. If its up to you Kilta you would take the game the exact way it is now even if it meant you will be playing it alone. Sorry you can't make much of an argument and if you bothered to read what I replied to Starlord and managed to decipher the English language you would have known what I was talking about. Sorry you're in the minority here but this is a legitimate complaint and a lot of people agree with me. Go check out other topics for proof of this. And trust me I'm hardly complaining because if I was there is plenty more to complain about, I'm definitely not running out of stuff. I'm looking forward to the changes but maps have hardly been mentioned so forgive me if I want to know what they plan to do with them.

I read what people write 3 times over.[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.]
I'm having fun in ffxiv and that is what counts. My $80 didn't feel like a waste to me. Out of honesty minus the new zones and cities to me it just looks like ffxi with better graphics and better character custimization.

Story is great, zones are great in my eyes and there are alot of details people over looked. And i do not even notice the supposed copy and pasting ppl are crying about. Here is the thing though. I just simply do not care. If i'm having fun that is the only thing that counts for me. And i'm having fun. I do not buy games that ARE fun. I buy games I may enjoy and have fun in. I tend to make my own fun.

If i had a chance to make an mmo, I would make a .hack meets elder scrolls. Like i said before, i'm not really a SE or FF or FFxiv fangirl. I Just find this and ffxi fun.
