    I completley agree.
What's the point of having a big map if there's nothing interesting in it and you just copy paste the terrain?
There's no purpose to it except for maybe to validate the teleport system that most people would gladly sacrifice for more traditional transportation.
gaving a desert on one side of the map and a frozen waste land on the other?
Oh, you mean like The Black Shroud and Thanalan where you're running through a harsh rugged wasteland and suddenly you're hit by a lush twisted forest?

those are different zones. I meamt with in the same map. Like take thalan it self 1/2 is desert then the other 1/2 is frozen with ice. And for the record there is a gradual change when your about to zone to thalan from the black shroud/ twelveswood. there is a rock tunnel. Much like ffxi did.

In ffxi the would felt smallker because the regiona were built from smaler zones. Pretty much in ffxiv take 1 reagon and make it a map. So really we are seeing the ffxi like maps just of the region not the smaller zones with in said region.

Imo there also planty of wonders to see. Like 5 hangs, bearded rock etc. Still have no idea why 4 sisters is called 4 sisters though. I'v also been seeing these weird covered wells/ vent shafts. Kinda curious about those.
