Because some people actually want to play the game, rather than just worry about the rewards.

You're also forgetting (or ignoring) that you are more or less guaranteed to get a need/greed on something if you keep trying in that week. I'm only up to Turn 4 on Coil, but I've been doing Coil for weeks and weeks, and have gotten zero drops.

If you're fortunate enough to be in full Allagan, then good for you. Not everyone has that luxury whether they are running Coil or not.

yah but with the RNG would your chances of gears up faster running coil and using myth tomes alot faster than CT? you can only run CT till you get a drop then what? nothing lol why spend hours grinding long content when WP is right there? ( for myth tomes)

Because it's crap for spirit bonding. Spirit bonding is by far the best money maker in the game atm especially combined with gil drops from enemies. It's not only about the philo/myth.

As for wasting time.. Playing a game in general is pretty much wasting time, unless you happen to be a game developer or studying to become one, in which case it could be considered research I guess.

I think this person has the answer, add RaideDuku's post to this and I mean maybe what u should be asking is why are you playing an MMORPG ?

The reason I'll be running CT is simply for a variety of content and it's very likely that rather than lot gear for my Coil main I'll cast lots for another job. Coil is great and all and yeah, if you have full DL you should be doing it but at the end of the day you gotta have some fun too and doing a single raid and a few of the same dungeon to cap before logging off the rest of the week is not that fun.

Additionally, groups that are just starting coil will be lacking gear and the extra stats will help them move forward more quickly through the turns. Some turns like turn 4 are more of a dps check than anything so if you're in a new static you'll be happy if a couple of your members have some ilvl80 to accent their full DL.

I cannot convey what I am trying to saybecause everyone is so defensive and does not want to communicate with and open mind. I never once said I hate CT, I think it's awesome they have content added for people getting there, the point is the loot lock out system is trash period. Nothing you can say makes it right, I'm not narrow minded at all in fact I have a broad view and that's how I came to this conclusion, the chances of getting full coil n myth gear are higher than getting full CT gear with the loot system like that, and it's pointless when it's ilvl80 loot lockouts are for top tier gear not your second top tier. Especially when your chances at getting myth n coil gear is higher than getting CT gear?

Let's not mention all the greif drops that are going to occur. I wish people would discuss not argue over something every one cry well you don't do all the content, I do and I enjoy it, I didn't rush and I enjoy playing, the thread was for discussion on the loot lock out system for sub part gear that you have less a chance of getting than top tier gear.

Loot Lockout and Weekly Content Lockout help preserve longevity of an MMO in general.
